I think tonights game revealed all we needed to know about our second team. They just not good enough.

We have too many deadwood in the team and theres no way we will be able to challenge for any trophy with this kind of squad, not even the most realistic ones like the FA cup.

Drastic measures needs to be taken in january if we want to finish in top 4 this season, but my concerns are that wenger has failed to realise that this team just isnt capable of producing anything.

He needs to get rid of the dead wood ASAP..

    OUT
    1. Arshavin
    2. Chamakh.
    3. Squid.
    4. Rosicky.

Deliberately had Arshavin first on the list...He is basically a Waste of space now

Rosicky is one of our better squad players.. the ones that need to go are Djourou, Squillaci, Mannone (what a plum!), Chamakh and Arshavin. Just a simple reinvestment in some decent squad players.

Am a big Rosicky fan. As one of the elder statements in the squad, the only thing he has to offer is his experience.

His injuries has taken it toll on his body and he hasnt got much left in him.

Frimpong and Coq have both evolved and should be ahead of him. so why not sell him now that he has s decent value.

I know we cant compete financially with Man city and co but surely we should be able to get better players than what we currently have.

Djourou has been given too much time to develop his game and he still hasnt understood the basics.. Sir Alex would have forgotten he signed him by now.

Arshavin.. My Goodness.. what hurts is when a player just doesnt care..

May be we should have gone a little defensive in this game.

The funny thing is even if we set up defensively, we will make those basic errors considering our defensive weakness.

    Who would want him?
I know that he was a panic buy, but seriously i would have prefered nothing at all.

Somehow the word "Clear it" is missing in most of our defenders dictionary.

so why has that area of our game not addressed by the coaches all these years..Its clearly one of the main reasons we arent winning trophies.

Sometimes its not the amount of goals you score in a season , but also how well you have defended through out the season.
Your defenders sometimes win you trophies and Man utd proved this when they signed a solid defener in Vidic.

This does make you wonder though.

Chamakh, Squillaci, Djourou, Mannone, Fabianski (probably arshavin too now) would not make it into the squads of any of the TOP european clubs!

So why the **** are they playing for us??!!

My real concern though is upfront.

we're supposed to be competing with the likes of Man United (Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, Wellbeck), Man City (Aguero, Balotelli, Dzeko, Adebayor), Chelsea (Drogba, Torres, Sturridge), Bayern Munich (Mario Gomez, Olic, Muller) Real Madrid (Higuaine, Benzema, Ronaldo), Barcelona (Messi, David Villa, Pedro) but the reality is we're woefully short up front.

RVP is one of the Premierleagues most injury prone players and he's only top quality striker. (not worth mentioning Walcott because Wenger will never play him down the middle)

Goetze, Neymar, Podolski, Gourcuff, Vertonghen.. that's the quality of player we should be getting linked with. A few injuries to key men and we are back in trouble because the quality in depth is not there.

Djourou i don't feel needs to go. He performed very well last year for a long period alongside Koscielny. He fell of steeply towards the end of the season and hasn't recoverd. But he's still very young for a CB. I'd give him another couple of years as he has the making of a great player, he just needs to develop.

Squillaci can go and doesn't need replacing.
Chamakh & Arshavin can go for 10m each and that 20m used to buy Podolski who can play in both their positions.
Rosicky should be kept - he was arguably the most creative player last night after he came on. I think he should have started. I still have time for him.
Mannone and Fabianski were woefully disappointing last night.

Thats an insightful comparison you just did there TheBear..Its scary to think that the only quality striker we have in the squad is injury prone and that has been one of the major difference between us and the top 4 in the EPL right now.

    We just not good enough.

I really dont want to imagine what might happen if RVP gets injured..We are basically sitting ducks!

Not really we did concede something like 46 league goals. I dont think we can say our defence performed 'well'.

If you show bottle and spirit you will come through RVP injury

With all due respect, with all the bottle and spirit in the world, it won't cover up defensive ineptness - which we have in abundance.

i am a canary fan (thanks for lansbury last season) who adopted arsenal as a second team many years ago. posted last season that squillaci would find it hard to get into most championship teams, and the same is starting to appear the case for arshavin and djouro. rossicky at least brings a sense of urgency onto the pitch when he appears. haven't seen enough of chamakh to make a reasoned assessment but overall your backup players are way behind other top teams, but the clubs failure to address this situation is incomprehensible. why was park bought?
