Russia and Ukraine obviously have different ideas of what post-war should look like or they wouldn't be at war to begin with. In order for peace to be achieved, in the absence of one nation obliterating the other, they're both going to need to compromise and give up one of their goals. What Putin/Trump/Brb are suggesting is that Ukraine should give up all their goals, Russia should get to achieve all theirs.... and if anyone thinks thats a bad idea, they're warmongers.

It doesn't work that way. Both sides are going to have to decide what objective losses they're willing to give up in order for peace to proceed. If everything is just given to Russia and minerals to US, there can't be peace. Trump is trying to profit off Ukraine whilst pandering to Putin and letting him have a complete victory in the East. Who would agree to that if they were Ukraine? They're trying to carve up Ukraine between them. I won't draw any parallels with that to any previous wars though. :bandit:

I never said what you said. We armed Ukraine to fight, Ern is chatting bollocks saying they are fighting for themselves, Zelenskyy has said it that they are fighting for the rest of Europe. I get it, I must conform, Putin is the bad guy, everyone else is good...well not Trump obviously. Don't matter what Biden done to the world.

So when you off to join in the fight Welshie, when you going to put your balls on the line for them Ukranians, no don't fancy, you just all bravado for this sort of thing, they should fight that nasty man Putin, just don't ask me to go because I got family, would that be your cry eh.

So you're admitting the Russians are complete ****s, but still think the Ukrainians should surrender to those same Russians who have never treated them well?

Since when has highlighting the corruption of the UKs leadership ended with polonium poisoning, Novichok poisoning, being pushed out of a window, being locked up indefinitely on trumped up charges and getting murdered by the state in prison?

I've been calling for a compromise for months now, possibly years but I can't remember. It's always been the only logical conclusion.

But this convo always goes like this because people draw an equivalence with things the West does and and goes "u see Russia isn't so bad" but that is just falling hook line and sinker for the usual propaganda ****e. Like the usual number 1 line from Russia: "How many people were arrested in the UK last year for attacking the gov, how many were arrested in Russia?"

This ignores obviously that in Russia, you aren't just arrested for attacking the gov, but instead - you are denied promotions at work, or work all together, possibly drummed into the army as a conscript, perhaps your brother is punished at work instead of you, maybe people in your local area catch wind of our opinions and decide to throw a rock at your car. But none of this concludes with "You will be arrested for hate speech". Misinformation like this bleeds into the minds of the simpletons in the West who aren't happy with their lot in life.

The Russians are not complete ****s, Putin is but not the Russian people. It's what happens in war if you become a mercenary, you should remember Ukranians are likely to have commited atrocitites as well. Shame knowing history don't actually give you some sense of logic, you been playing too many games, we are talking about the real world, not your virtual fantasy.

Or just something as simple as being told you aren't required to work at your current job because you're no longer needed.

So America never dropped Napalm on countries, America have never used the atomic bomb, not once but twice, even the UK went fighting to free some sheep once on a faraway land. How many innocent people have been shot, raped and killed by our police forces, is that murder by state authorities or does that not count in your little world. How many people died in Gaza at the hands of weapons from the west....seems you have selective memory to me.

What about all the abuse cases within jobs in the UK. What about the people we've wrongly locked up in the UK over time, what about people getting locked up for saying nasty things on the internet.

Is the purpose of your current meltdown to try and point out to the people on here that the UK and America aren't perfect and therefore we should agree with you and just ... tbh I don't even know what you want people to do or think tbh brb I just know you don't like the West or especially the EU and therefore have a lukewarm opinion on Russia.

It aint much deeper than that lol

"I was all for Ukrainian self determination then I heard about the post office scandal and just thought 'oh whats the point'" <laugh>

You also have to remember that there is practically zero political opposition in Russia because the Kremlin disposes of dissenters. The closest rival to the Russian presidency Alexei Navalny, was poisoned with novichok and then 'mysteriously' died whilst in an artic penal colony and Russia brutally pursues lawyers, journalists, commentators, artists and anybody who is critical of the regime.

We've known this for years, but because Politicians and bankers were happy to allow Russian oligarchs to launder their money through London, we turned a blind eye to it. And because Europe was so dependant on their gas and energy, they didn't stop Putin when he annexed Crimea.

The Russian propaganda machine has also been allowed to grow and fester and with it their cyber reach has infiltrated western Elections (or was actively sought by Trump) and now you have a situation where Putin has the President of the United States on puppet strings.

You haven't stopped moaning about Trump since he came to office, shame you didn't feel the same about docile Biden setting the world on fire. Well you got four years to suck it up now, and ive given Putin your GPS coordinates, so expect it to get very warm in Cornwall sometime soon.

    For the record.

I think brbs heart IS in the right place and I get what he's on about, but I just don't agree with the thinking at all, specifically on Ukraine.

He's made it clear that he thinks the UK should help young Palestinians for example, which shows consistency in all this.
