I expected not to win this one, but it is starting to look like we're flagging and just trying to hold on. City game is huge now, to both win and regain some impetus.

I get the feeling Nunez knew we were considering selling him last month and his head has completely dropped.

We didn’t lose, still uneaten away and 8pts clear. We have deficiencies that need to be addressed at the end of the season, which have nothing to do with. Virgil, Mo or Trent. We need a new striker being the most obvious one.

it's not like he is first choice and considering our thin squad he will need to be used on occasionally

He didn't win one 50/50 in the whole night. Ghastly performance. We had an extra man in midfield tonight - apart from the first ten minutes and then in the second half until we scored the 2nd, did it show? Villa won every loose ball. Macca may as well not have come out for the 2nd half.

As for Darwin - well the miss was ****, but so was the one-on-one - all he had to do was flick the ball to his right: he kicked it right against him. Jesus tonight, I'd have played Chiesa before him now.

So, 4 points dropped in 3 games. 11 points last month has become 5 when Arse win their game in hand. We play City on Sunday, and they've given up tonight and are saving themselves to play us. What are the chances that 5 points has gone by this time next Wednesday? :emoticon-0108-speec

We're 'monitoring' and 'tracking' several. Wait until we open that 'war chest' 'next transfer window'. :bandit:

I understand Nunez is going to Newcastle as part exchange for Isak.

It’s a tough period at the end of the day, and I wouldn’t be so sure arsenal will just rack up the wins either.

    On to the next game

yes, we’ll probably buy Nunez’s twin brother. Having not been able to watch the game, would it have helped if Endo had come on for Jones?

That was on the bbc sport football gossip. Why would Newcastle want to take him?

We have no midfield depth, but I'd have used Endo for Macca at half time, tbh, simply because the midfield looked like it was running through treacle, but we don't really have any energy on that bench like Villa seem to have. Thought Szobbo was poor in the 1st half and meh in the 2nd, tbh. I'd say Villa's midfield won about two-thirds of the game.

Difficult result to take. More than enough opportunity through out the match to have scored more.

Yet again though we hit a wall and the lack of squad depth starts to tell. As well as slots refusal to use any of the fringe players.

Nunez is a good example, sat on his arse all season, obviously not fancied, might as well sell him.

Suddenly everybody looks ****ed, and we are bringing on a striker while not prolific at least used to cause chaos, ran his heart out for the club.

He comes in and looks a shadow of the player he was, not exactly uninterested, but he knows he's got no chance so why bother.

Not exactly great man management from arnie

    Quality game for the neutral.

A point away to Villa is a good result; they're a good side, imo they are the best of the rest after Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City.

We take the point and move on.

(I think we play much better when Dribs doesn't do the match thread title in capital letters. ) <whistle>

Are you counting the two goals Villa could have had in the last 5 minutes? Darwin missed a sitter, Jota did in the first half, but aside from Darwin ****ing up again when he should have flicked that ball past Martinez, I'm not sure I see that way. Had we scored in the first 10 minutes when we were all over them, then perhaps.
