I doubt anyone will go anywhere for that dickhead So the 3bn a year for 100years stops but we spend more on what exactly? Especially if Russia only want Ukraine. Like you can't be certain Putin is gonna do a Hitler and take all of Europe so basically you're making excuses already for kier to throw more money away on foreign ****e we should have nothing to do with. 3bn a year for 100years, wtf was he thinking
The other thing that is being overlooked here, is that Putin is also a close friend of Iran. Russia is the chief supplier of arms and weaponry to Iran and they have close diplomatic and strategic ties. You'd think Trump would have thought about this, but I wouldn't put it past him to have just glossed over it Not sure how that works alongside Trump's 'maximum pressure' on Iran, when at the same time he's strengthening Putin's position.
Pretty sure he's already cancelled elections and banned any opposition partys from even forming. So good luck with the liitle coke head stepping down
Fairly certain he won’t be PM for 100 years so nobody after him is bound to that. I wouldn’t worry about it.
In otherwords... it would hurt US and their force-projection more than it would Europe and would be a major tool to reign in a rogue US that is threatening European peace. A Europe less dependent on the US is a Europe that has a louder voice at the table. Hopefully all this craziness is temporary and things will normalise, but it wouldn't hurt Europe to force itself to become more self-sufficient- or at least diversify who it relies on.
I doubt it would stop bro, because under Trump and Putin's 'peace plan' it makes Ukraine more vulnerable. As mentioned it also makes Europe more vulnerable, as an emboldened Putin, knowing that the US don't give a **** and wouldn't back Europe, would be more likely to go back into Ukraine again and take more territory. Also don't forget that Putin has eyes on Georgia, the Baltic states like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and possibly Finland. So protecting European borders suddenly becomes more expensive and militarily volatile. NATO would have to be beefed up considerably without any US backing. It would cost billions over decades. You also have to remember that Trump wants access to mineral reserves. He tried to strongarm Zelensky into giving him 50% of Ukraine's mineral resources in return for military support, so he's not so much interested in peace, more what he can extract for himself. Also take into account that cozying up to Putin, given Trump better access to mineral wealth in central asia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan etc, which is in direct competition with China. He wants to divide the relationship between China (his main rival) and Russia, so this is all part of his playbook. Ukraine is just a pawn in Trump's games.
Like I've said before. Best thing to do is smile and wave and wait for him stepping down after 4 years. 4 years in politics is a flash. In the meantime Europe has a perfect excuse to become self reliant again.
There's a lot of damage he can do in those 4 years though, but yeah, it is only 4 years Which is why I think we're seeing him trying to dismantle huge parts of the federal govt and put his own people in place, because that can have far longer reaching consequences. As I've mentioned, you'd hope his special advisors and the people actually doing the nuts and bolts work are enacting quiet diplomacy in the background and just telling Trump what he wants to hear
Yeah I don't see how any of that is our problem tbh You really think we are at threat from Russia invading? The UK? No chance
It's not all about a direct invasion of the UK though. Just from an economic perspective Putin’s 2022 invasion took 1.5 per cent off global GDP and added 3 per cent to European inflation. We're also still heavily reliant on Russian Gas and energy. If Putin is allowed to expand a Russian empire into Europe, the whole of Europe is more and more at the behest of Russian resources and prices. That's even before you get into the security aspect of respecting international borders and security.
I love the commentators from politicians to media, Zelenskyy is brave standing up to Putin, how the **** is that brave, he's nice and cosy and protected by security everywhere he goes. About time he changed his jumper as well.
My old dear doesn't like him because he's 'scruffy' lol That's the kind of level she judges world politics on though
I was only joking about his sweater because it always seem similar, I've never thought of him as scruffy though. I think as a political leader of a country at war, it don't really present a good image to your people and soldiers if you wear a shirt and tie.
Yeah he's not scruffy, he just wears those green jumpers and t shirts. My old dear is just cut from a different cloth though, she thinks the BBC has too many black reporters these days She's stuck in a different time warp
Just in case you too wanted a Zelenskyy sweater: https://www.etsy.com/dk-en/market/zelensky_sweater Plenty of them on Etsy.
