Aye, and could be that the attitude /body language guff when he was with us is crap too. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Perhaps the silver lining with Giles is that if he's **** and Boro don't want him, then he buckles down, kicks on and does well for us. Doubt it'll happen though.
- Cathal McCarthy was an unused sub in UCD's 3-0 defeat to Wexford - Anthony Racioppi was an unused sub in Köln's 3-0 defeat to Madgeburg - Ryan Giles was an unused sub in Middlesbrough's 1-0 defeat to Watford - Callum Jones wasn't included in the matchday squad for Morecambe's 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley - James Furlong was an unused sub in AFC Wimbledon's 1-0 win over Salford City - Andy Smith played the full game in Gillingham's 0-0 draw with Crewe Alexandra - Jake Leake played the full game in Oldham's 0-0 draw with Sutton United - Owen Foster was an unused sub in Hartlepool's 0-0 draw with Maidenhead United - Brandon Fleming wasn't included in the matchday squad for Forest Green's 2-0 defeat to Braintree Town - Tyrell Sellars-Fleming came on in the 66th minute in Gateshead's 1-0 defeat to Altrincham - Shea Callister played the full game and Cameron Gray wasn't included in the matchday squad for Brighouse's 4-1 defeat to Ashington. Both players recently had their loans extended by another month - Jaedyn Chibanga came on in the 59th minute for North Ferriby and Paul Iggulden played the full game and scored for Stocksbridge in a 1-0 win for the latter - Aidan Durkan came on in the 64th minute in Beverley's 7-0 defeat to Hallam
I was there. He got 2 assists and went off to a standing ovation in the 89th min. He had a cracking game.
Simons has gone there as a replacement for Morley as Bolton recalled him in January. If he does well there and they get promoted, they’ll probably buy him.
Saw quite a bit of Dajaune Brown (scored Vs us at Derby) on loan for them in the same role last season. It's the best direct comparison I can make as he's contributed in the championship to at least some degree this season after being on loan at Gateshead last season. Saw quite a bit of Matty Jacob there too, and he was different class albeit a division below, he just lost a year+ of development due to serious injury, that's less known about - so let's not write him off just yet either... So. On tonight's showing TSF looks a better, more physically, tactically and technically developed "modern 9" than Brown . He was involved in practically everything going forward, never ran out of legs - where sometimes Brown wouldn't always be a guaranteed start against more physical or experienced sides and/or fade in and out of games; TSF was every bit that line leading no 9 you'd want him to be. Couple of shots he was unlucky with too, but if he can match Browns goals at that level then I'd have every reason to believe he's got much higher potential on tonight's showing, although on that proviso. And again, based on tonight it looks just a matter of time before he starts scoring at NL level too. Kid impressed me. And more than a few of the home support also. Hence the sub on 89 for the Heed Army to show a little bit of appreciation. Can't lie, as a spectacle, I haven't seen a much better advert for the National League than that. Though can't help thinking that Gateshead would have won far more comfortably if not for a serious injury to their keeper just before half time at 2-0, conceded in the 6th min of first half injury time and then it took the inexperienced sub 20 mins to grow into it in the second half.
Thanks for the summary. I wasn’t trying to belittle his performance, I saw he was playing up top on his own and every time a Gateshead goal went in I checked the scorer in anticipation. It sounds like he has every chance of making it and even if he doesn’t quite do that at Championship level, sounds like he’ll have a decent career in the football league.
Good write up in the YP too. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...s-after-fine-full-debut-for-loan-club-4998417
