Well he always does that, so it’s not newsworthy. First shot was deflected, though, so I cut him some slack. Nothing outstanding but as I said crucial in the context of the game.

Think we have an interesting choice for next game in terms of line up, though suspect DF will keep the same starters as last night. Imo I would have started with Struijk at CB, and put Amps into midfield, in place of Gruev. I I’ve always felt Pascal is worth his place for his ability attacking/defending dead ball situations. That said I didn’t expect him to score 2 last night.

I rate Rothwell, at this level, and would have liked to somehow get him into the lineup. He made a difference when he was introduced. However Aaronson has the 10 spot pretty much guaranteed, due to his relentless pressing, so suspect he’s gonna have to get used to a 20 minute cameo, at best, every game.

I fancy our chances in the next game though think there won’t be a lot in it. I think it being away, and a big match atmosphere will likely suit us.

 

Rothwell with his right foot for first assist and left foot for second assist. Altogether different quality of delivery than we were getting from Gruev.
