Because they were pumping the ball into the box it allowed us to have 3 CBs to deal with it, unfortunately your goalkeeper has cement in his boots and cost us the 3 points
4 CBs on the pitch when Hjelde was introduced. That game has been and gone but it’s another that should’ve been won that wasn’t. Just another example of points dropped late on.
He never stopped grafting but I think his work on the ball was very poor. Put a shift in defensively but again the same as Rigg, are we not expecting more from our “creative” players than just making up part of a defensive shape? I don’t think they done enough last night when the had the ball. ELF wasn’t great either but he’s being played out of position.
Hjelde is a CB that can play left back or wing back and he came on to play left wing back in a 5. Keeper catches the ball it’s 3 points. It’s not down to the sub
I do agree on the ball they were poor think the tiredness of the defensive ask plays into that aswell as Leeds press and shape they really were superb last night and think farke did a brilliant job of setting them up
I'm personally not sure Roberts is the right man for that right wing spot when we want to be quick and direct on the counters. I think Mundle's pace is a massive miss for those quick counters. If we go up we need to be signing a very quick right winger imo
No idea why that autocorrected to bragging ffs meant grafting! Aye they were the best team we’ve came across by far and all that running gets to you second half. I thought Jobe looked tired too. Struijk will get the plaudits rightly so but I thought Neil was the best player on the pitch.
It was but you’re claiming the sub meant we were sitting back, hjelde came on with a couple minutes left in the game think it was the 88th? You should see that game out we weren’t just sitting back we’d done the hard work to turn around the 1 goal defecit
Haven't read all the thread sorry if someones already said. Gut wrenching to lose a point with the last kick , but remember last October we were gifted a point with the last kick. Thought they were brilliant and they came close to the generally regarded, by us as well, to be the divisions best team. I think it speaks volumes of us that once again we saw a team and fans celebrating like they'd won the world cup. (I'll be watching out of curiosity the end of their next home win) At least Leeds celebrated after being determined to go and get the win, unlike Burnley who celebrated playing the last 20 minutes at home to hang on to a draw.
Jobe was poor second half and Neil had to put in one hell of a shift. As said last night though - Jobe remains on the pitch no matter what. Him coming off for Browne would’ve made perfect sense, it’ll just never happen.
In my opinion we have the perfect scenario for the playoffs which might, inadvertently, get us promoted automatically. As we're now guaranteed top six imo we can take our time to bring back the injured, introduce the likes of Aleksic, try out changes to our play and get in some target practice! I'm not suggesting radical changes but it's a great chance to get the whole squad involved, rotate and change the players quicker during games. We'll have the time to see what works and build momentum. If it allows us to play with a little more freedom we may just have a run of games that pushes us towards the top two, almost by chance. Parker and Burnley have painted themselves into a corner imo and don't know how to get out, I definitely believe we can finish above them. As Burnley have to play Sheff Utd only a Utd win would really damage us. They also have the derby with Wednesday which could help And Leeds, having hurt us last night, could do us a massive favour by hammering Sheff Utd next Monday.
Absolutely agree with you on this fella. It would be a dull old world if everyone agreed on everything all the time. As long as discussions are respectful of other posters rights to an opinion then all is good. We can always ignore a post if we don't like it.
Substitution should have come earlier - Roberts was cooked by 60 mins and that tackle for the free kick that led to the equaliser was evidence of that.
Agree, but Isidor was absolutely gassed by the time he came off - he wasn't (and wouldn't have) provided the same levels as Mayenda. It was the Samed as a 10 substitution that was the weird one.
We conceded quite a few needless free kicks, I remember one from Rigg in particular. Roberts is getting picked out because they scored from it. His was no needless than anyone else's
I’m not too downhearted after that. Out-subbed , ultimately. Our middle row clearly tired: Roberts, Jobe, Rigg, LeFee - and we made the wrong subs too late. I want to see us go at teams more til the end of the season. No excuses as we can with our squad, esp Mundle & Brown back and Watson not far off. Regis needs to switch off the conservative option. Esp now. Nothing to lose and our confidence will grow if we can hammer a few teams, whilst making full subs earlier in the game. same back 4 + Dan in the pivot Jobe & Le Fee in the middle - with Brown, Rigg and Aleksic all good options when they tire / we need to freshen/change things up Mundle on the left , Mayenda on the right and Wilson up top. Roberts & Poveda are similar types of player and slow things down for me. I get more frustrated with Roberts every week. Poveda is more direct and I’d like him to start if we keep Mayenda on the bench. Samed can come on for Dan once we’re 3+ up and he fancies a rest. Naive, I know. But time to take off the handbrake Regis.
