Knowledge of khazi availability is very important to citizens of a certain age and medical conditions. It makes strategic planning of days out a necessary first step. To those of us who don't have to consider this - count yourselves lucky!
The point is it's still politics. Moaning and joking about the less wonderful parts of this Country is perfectly fine. A good subject for a thread. But then we get inferences as to why some of those places are less wonderful than they used to be. London for example. "East London is a definite ****hole. South London in the main is sadly going the same way. The Outer Boroughs are still just about hanging on." The quickest and easiest interpretation of this is that London is a worse place than it used to be supposedly because of immigrant communities, the social problems and unwanted 'foreign' ways that they bring, the jobs they take that British people might be doing instead, and the policies of the Mayor of London, who is a divisive political figure - even though he has a democratic mandate. A Mayor who has been called a puppet of Islamists. The 'outer boroughs' comment reinforces this impression. The proportion of migrants living in the more affluent outer boroughs is lower than that in the more deprived, urban centres. Granted, none of what I have posted above was actually said in the earlier post. But it is known to all that this is how some people will interpret it when they read that post. I myself may have done the same thing with my 'Oxford Street / Powis Street' post. What I did not actually say is just as open to interpretation of the same kind. Then we get a call for "zero tolerance" and the deportation of Roma gypsies. A lot less ambiguity there. Let me make it clear, It is not the wing of the political spectrum that these comments are coming from that is the issue. Whether I personally agree with the views expressed or not is entirely irrelevant - though I don't suppose I will be believed. If a member had expressed pro-immigration or any other perceived 'left wing' or 'woke' views in the same manner I would be posting the same message right now. And not just about immigration. Climate change is another area where controversial political views have caused problems here in the last few days, and it was that subject which led directly to @Dick Plumb1 calling again for no more politics on Not606 Charlton. Every political subject always has two sides to it's argument. Even when one side is totally convinced that their view alone is the correct one, and that other people who argue against them are doing so in bad faith, or are somehow subversive, or even treacherous and untrustworthy - simply for disagreeing. That is the hurtful poison of political division. That poison nearly killed this particular forum, following the riots in the Country in July. It later led to a direct instruction from the very top of the entire Not606 community only a couple of weeks ago that posts made concerning the causes of it would be deleted. For the last time I appeal to everyone; Please - can we discuss any subject not related to Charlton Athletic and Football without linking it to Party or Ideological politics. It should not be necessary to resort to banning discussion of any 'off topic' subject and strictly compelling members to talk only about CAFC and football. We all want the vibe and the atmos here at Not606 to be relaxed and enjoyable. Not restricted and eggshell walking as it is on ITTV. There are many other online platforms (with huge readerships) where matters like Climate change, Immigration and all other issues of our modern society can be debated - and on most of those platforms people can express their views as forcefully as they like. But those platforms are not like Not606 Charlton. They are not small communities that depend on the good will and mutual respect among their members, simply to survive. We are that. When members fall silent or leave, it affects us all. It hurts our community. It diminishes us. And there is no need for that to happen. All we have to do is look out for each other a little bit and accept each other's differing views on life. We're all Charlton fans. That is all that should really matter here.
Thank you. I've done the very best I can to explain the position. Everyone can interpret it as they wish. I won't repeating myself. Political posts will be removed from this point onwards, in accordance with the message @Dick Plumb1 posted a few days ago. Up the Addicks!
London is a third world s#@thole now overrun with uber cars and delivery scooters. Ffs you can’t move for them, flying up the outside and also the inside at high speed. Most streets are rammed with ph vehicles parked up everywhere. I’d hate living any nearer than l do. Tent city in the middle of Park Lane as well. Total sh#tehole.
Given where we were yesterday, a lot of people will say the 'second city' is a toilet. I quite like the city centre now, it used to be horrific when I first went up there in the early 80's, particularly the Bull Ring.
An absolute ****hole. We walked through the backstreets of Digbeth on the way to the ground. There were a group of Romanians - about 6 - rummaging about in the hedge of a block of flats - they were pulling out all sorts, including boxes of nappies and a box of a dozen cereals. “you are supposed to pay for it” I said. “we did” replied Mrs Borat, as she hastily moved away. The City has absolutely gone. The town centre was worse if anything.
