Great catch NNW and a great read, some very interesting stuff and gives a bit more of an understanding of just how difficult it can be

A lot of interesting points reading between the lines about whichelow did he think he was there and didnt want to go to exeter ? Being not ready mentally covers a hell of a lot of ground!
Nice to know he still has his eyes on the youth scene, also nice to know prem clubs are ringing us saying would you like so &so:)
Doesnt look as if we will keep kightly but at least we are asking for NN
Have heard a lot about Bond all of it promising:)
Thanks NNW good spot and food for thought!

It's amazing to stop and think that Jonathan Bond only turned 18 and a half a couple of weeks ago.

To put that in context, Loach was 19 before he played a senior game for anyone, 20 before he did so for us.

Shows a lot of promise by all accounts If Scott does get sold at least we know there is another decent keeper in the pipeline!

Yep, an excellent read, and i'm glad he managed to explain (again) why he's not playing the youth yet...well done Dyche for sticking to your guns and looking after our younger players :)

Always gonna disagree with you Hon , I would love to know how Matty was mentally not ready for this season but was last season ! Is it the same as me working on one helicopter and then saying I dont want to work on another one!? If his head wasnt straight then its down to the backroom staff to sort it! If this is whats happening then so be it , but all of them cant be mentally not right , a lot of the kids on twitter seem pretty shrewd , intelligent and mentally stable,(granted some dont).
Just as an aside what happened to Mingoia? Have they locked him in the gym with a tonne of steaks?
I must admit if I was allowed to work on something one moment and then told I couldnt work on it the next , I would be wanting questions answered ,perhaps this is what has happened to Matt! As with Loachy a good player doesnt turn into a bad one overnight , What Sean and his staff have to watch, is there is no discontented people in or around the squad! Has whichelow played in any recent "development" games like lloydy has:)?
Might have a quick look at that!

Sorry Norway, have to disagree. Trying to draw comparisons between our jobs and a young Pro footballer are very subjective - we have a number of students at work at the moment and they are great at Excel bashing, running reports, organising meetings, but they would die if they had to present to some of our senior managers and it would kill their confidence. Same as very young Pro footballers, it would be easy to destroy their confidence if they have a couple of bad games and in front of over 10K people. Remember that Pro football is a very macho environment....

Fair enough W-y although some of you excel bashers might give a good account of themselves in front of the big wigs! Those might be ones you would keep an eye on for future promotions or team leaders etc! However if you dont put them up there it will be a lot harder to find out!

As far as I can see, SD's point was that he wasn't ready last season.

and that's my point. Our IP's are just not ready for that, some of these managers are animals and love chewing up people who are not fully prepared - that would do them much more harm than good.

Exactly right! He said several times when questioned about it that he thinks that them playing the number of games they played last season has harmed their development. This is what i dont agree with. If it harmed them so badly why was Matty Whichelow scoring regularly??

Regularly? He only scored three goals - even less prolific than Priskin - and none of them in the later part of the season, which tends to suggest that SD is right. Too much too soon.

Ok then, maybe not regularly. I thought he had more than that. I thought he had 9 in 20, which for a winger is a decent tally.

But Tamas scored a goal every 4 games, which for a striker is average. Matty scored a goal every 6, which for a winger is not too bad. If you take that over the season thats 7, which would have made him our 3rd top scorer last year. He can only get better.

He's only called winger because that's his preferred position - last season he played in different positions, mostly striker. :)

Well either way Whichelow did rather well imo. As a winger playing as a winger 3 in 20 at his age is decent. Or as a winger out of position as a striker 3 in 20 is ok.
