I think when we won 1 in 8 or 9, in my head it becomes very unlikely. Think that is now representative of the 8 or 9 point gap. That's a massive lead.

You’ve been saying we’re not in the same class as the other three since the summer, though. Now that slump may well end up being the thing that costs us, but all this certainty that we’re not in the mix is just bizarre. It’s not even nailed on as of today and it’s nearly pancake day. Defo getting tougher with every week, but the determination to right is off all season is just odd.

Prove me wrong mate. In fact, if we get automatics I will donate £250 to the charity of you choice

That’s certainly what hurt us, but even now we’re in there. Given what we’ve seen - and how we have performed since that slump - it’s basically just defeatism that would have anyone rule us out before we even got to half way.

I don’t need to prove you wrong. Its just daft. At three points off the top only 6-7 weeks ago it was apparent we could only achieve playoffs:emoticon-0102-bigsm

It was apparent Coventry were in a relegation battle for months ...

    ... now it's apparent they're 1 point off the play-off's.

Apparently people talk shyte when they say things can't change <laugh>

You don't need to, because you can't.
You know I'm right, but you've planted your flag in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Surely you have something better to do on a Saturday night...

Not completely ruling it out but it's very unlikely IMO.

Wow, this thread was never this popular when we were doing well ...

    ... now everyone's piling in.

Just like every match thread when we don't win <laugh>

It's not all about the points and positions. It's more complex than that. But you know this, it just doesn't fit with your agenda

Definitely tough now. But it hasn’t been obvious for months other than to those who want to tell themselves that. Certainly the evidence didn’t show that.

In May I think you'll be saying that's exactly what it's all about.

What's complex is the variety of opinions and accepting that your's isn't necessarily correct.

This is becoming like a post-match thread when we haven't won.

People just hammer away, with the negativity, drive people off the board then believe they've proved their point ...

... it would be a truly miserable forum if all optimism and hope was crushed tbh.

I've no idea of how some people manage to drag themselves through every day.

Correct. But during the season, when we discuss and debate about our prospects we have to take a number of factors into account. We may well have been 3 points off top last month, but looking at the form and squad depth of the clubs around us, together with our own form creates debate. Nothing is absolute until all 24 teams have played 46 games each, so until then we can have opinions.

We have spent the last 16 games out of the top 2. Leeds are getting stronger, Sheff Utd are finding ways to win ugly, Burnley are boring but relentless. We have been inconsistent and dropped points that (arguably) the other teams haven't/won't.

None of this is a crime, none of it means we are **** or we are a failure, it's a simple fact-based opinion.

No negativity here. This is pragmatism and realism. If you look carefully, I haven't criticised the club at any stage, nor have I suggested finishing in the play offs is in anyway a negative or a bad outcome.

Yes you're absolutely right, form and results can change ...

... which means ours can improve and other teams get worse.

If you don't believe that there's nothing I can say tbh.

On our day I think we’re the second best side in the league to watch, behind Leeds. Do believe we’ve been conservative in too many games we should’ve won, though. I’m happier than it seems about our season so far <laugh>
