One of those stupid viral trends over here recently was people going into grocery stores and opening a container of something and licking it before putting it back on the shelf
    ... And videoing themselves.

Wonder if the bun squashing was social media inspired or related.

The bun would have to be pretty stale for it to hurt.

A wrap would be more like a slap

Vance has been getting stuck into the EU and the UK at the Munich conference. After (he claims) people arrested and charged for exercising their right of free speech, stating the threat for Europe does not come outside Europe but within, free speech is in retreat he claimed. He did give examples but I can't remember them, one was some guy who got arrested in the UK, for praying outside an abortion clinic, I know nowt about that story, so if anyone wants to expand on it feel free.

    I assume this:
    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4g9kp7r00vo

Apparently illegal to do anything that can be seen as pro or anti abortion within 150m of an abortion clinic.

I would have some sympathy for him except... Apparently he was spoken to and for an hour and forty minutes he refused to move so it sounds like they tried to settle this without going all-legal on him. Charging him was a last-resort. It's very likely the guy wanted to be charged to make a political statement. He even let authorities know ahead of time that he planned on breaking the law.

Firstly I'll make it clear I'm pro abortion, I wasn't when I was younger but I realised in life there are reasons that women chose to go that route, and it's not for me to judge. I also don't particularly like men hanging around these clinics harrassing the women and would quite happily tell the guy to **** off.

However, the above is my opinion, it does not make me right, so are we impeding on the mans free speech, yes we are, whether I like that or not, it's not for me to judge the reasons he was doing it for but I'd still stick by my stance in telling him to move on.

Oh, I'm all for free speech. That includes speech we as a society don't want to hear, like hate speech, and noisy protests, etc. that kind of thing IS free speech. If you can't protest and can't say socially unacceptable things that is not free speech.

Now, that's not to say freedom from responsibility as to what happens because of your speech. If you say "go riot" and people do, you're responsible for inviting a riot....

No doubt this guy broke the law. I don't 100% agree with the law as written, but he broke the law.

As for abortion... I'm personally against it as an individual, but I think it should be legal for people to decide and there should be no law preventing it. If my wife got pregnant, even though don't want more kids, we wouldn't get an abortion... And if one of my kids got pregnant I would tell them I'm against them having an abortion... But other people have right to choose themselves.

Interesting... At this trajectory, UK would have larger population than Germany.

But you are still missing the point, we are creating laws that impede free speech, so for example this from that article: A new law means buffer zones will come into force outside all abortion clinics in England and Wales at the end of October, prohibiting protests within 150m.

So the law is being changed as per that example from preventing the man from what he's doing, if you are applying a law, you are preventing free speech. I think the guy should be kept away, but I can't then say he has free speech, he don't.

No, I'm not missing the point. I'm agreeing that isn't free speech.

I'm actually against those laws... As written. Obviously if he is directly abusing, or impeding an individual he should be removed... But I think he should have the right to free speech there if it is peaceful.

That has been the trajectory for a while as like many Western "advanced" countries Germanys poulation was stagnating and started to fall which many think led to Merkels lunatic decision to grant asylum to any and all Syrians and Afghans who made it to Germany .

Probably explains why they took in 5.4M Ukranians...

Yes, according to studies and reports, Ukrainian refugees have had a positive impact on Poland's economy, contributing to its GDP by filling labor shortages and acting as consumers, thus boosting economic activity; with estimates suggesting Ukrainian refugees contributed between 0.7 and 1.1% to Poland's GDP in 2023.

    Key points about this impact:
    • Labor force participation: A significant number of Ukrainian refugees have entered the Polish workforce, filling gaps in certain sectors and contributing to economic growth.
    • Consumption: As consumers, Ukrainian refugees have boosted spending in the Polish market.
    • Tax revenue: By working in Poland, Ukrainian refugees also contribute to tax revenue.

There's obviously going to be economic pains from a shrinking population, but I do think (as a planet) it is a good thing even if governments are panicking.

Not just for obvious ecological reasons that most people think, but for long term humanity. The rest of the world will eventually catch up with the West economically, and there aren't enough resources for everyone to live like Westerners.

Long term prosperity and peace for the globe requires the population to drop... Even though it might hurt the economy to begin with.

well of course boosting the population by 5m leads to a boost in GDP that is just a statement of the bleeding obvious .
