Was one of Roberts best games for us since hes signed imo but yet again he didn't add to the scoreline and didn't assist. Mayender and even poveda have done the same thing in a lot less game time, he needs to produce the end product or drop out the team for me.
I'll hold my hands up and confess that I didn't think he had that good a first half. I thought he had a decent first half but imo thought he was making the wrong decision at times but thought he had a lot better second half. Those videos showed me I know bot all!
Sticking my head above the parapet a little but I really liked the flags we had around the pitch last night. They were a nice touch and most of them looked quite good.
But he didn't that's the problem, people have been talking about him assisting the assist etc his numbers are shocking for a winger in a team chasing promotion.
Roberts almost guarantees a slow start on the right, two average performances, is not good enough we need better from regular starters.
He has loads of skills…. it’s his decision making which sometimes frustrates me. He dribbles when he should pass, he passes when he should shoot….and his set piece delivery isn’t consistent enough.
You only have to watch the first 5 minutes of the game to see a ball into Isidor’s feet which he should have nailed. That was an assist that missed, not a pre assist
I can't say you're wrong lads. Roberts is probably the best option on the right though. Mayenda's current role is to provide striker cover from the bench and to effect games late on. Swap them round to start Mayenda on the right wing and Roberts can't provide the striker cover from the bench. We'll have more options to maybe start Mayenda RW when Danns is ready to play imo. Anyway, I hope Patrick keeps up some of the quality play from last night and then assists and goals will come.
Some people ignore the facts I dont think Mayenda is a right winger at all , I dont think Roberts is either tbh he has the skill but lacks the application .
Just got home from the match and started reading this thread from where I left it, talk about chalk and cheese. Before the game loads of people saying Luton were dangerous, new signings, manager instilling his new way of playing, 11 days rest and raring to go ... ... after the game, Luton were absolute shyte, players not even trying, manager's tactics useless and nailed on for the drop. And even after Sunderland win the game, scoring two good goals and keeping a clean sheet ... loads of complaints about various players, the manager's selection, tactics and substitutions, etc. It's like 'Yeah, fair enough we won but ...' Me I'm just a happy idiot, pouring mesel a drink and settling down to watch the whole 90 minutes again, Ha'way the Lads
I know what your saying mate, like I said was one of his best games for us but he didn't make a bit of difference to the scoreline. Can't always be bad luck his numbers are just nowhere near good enough imo.
It probably did come at him quickly to be fair but he did seem to go very Sunday league with it. His shot nearly knocked some poor ****er in the North Stand clean out. Was still closer than I would have got it though to be fair
That's what puzzles me when people want players out of the side because 'we should have better' ... ... Patterson, Hume, Cirkin, O'Nien, Roberts, Rigg all need 'resting or dropping' We'd be absolutely f*cked without them.
Pretty fair assessment that. We played well not brilliant and Luton were poor overall but we still had to beat them and we did so job done onto the next one don't understand why folk can't just be happy we won.
Exactly. They're an ex-PL side fighting against relegation ... surely we deserve more credit than 'Luton laid down and we didn't get out of first gear'.
I'm happy we won ofcourse just saying i think for all he had his best game for ages he still didn't produce anything and it's been a long time since he did.
