I have been saying that for years and getting pelted , I still think he could play in tmidfield with Isidor and Mayenda starting up front in a 3/5/2 especially at home, and see if it can give us some control. As poor as Luton were they were still in the game until late on , it was't the walk in the park it should have been imo...
Can I just preface this with the fact I didn't watch last night, due to work. I've seen the extended highlights. These are just my long term opinions. First of all, start with the "pessimistic" outlook; I think Ballard and Mepham would be more beneficial vs Leeds, I'm aware I might be wrong, but I'd rather we had our strongest defenders in there. We won't need to ponder and break Leeds down unless by some sheer luck Leeds get someone sent off early. I love O9, I certainly defend him too. My other take is, Dan Neil has been brilliant now for a long time. Given his topsy turvy start to the season, he's really turned into a top of the league midfielder. He has so many peers in the top class championship midfielder bracket, but I think he's emerging strong. Even when we haven't played that well or he's been moved into the 8 role, he's been solid. I feel it's been the players and team around him letting him down at times. It was sometimes the other way round at the beginning of the season. I posted OTR saying against Leeds I'd move Le Fee into the middle for Mayenda to come in, Rigg going to the bench. That and Mepham back for O9 would give us arguably our strongest defence and midfield. Only worry would be Ballard/Mepham partnership being less experienced than others.
Neil has grown into the role brilliantly and is a propa leader on the pitch, if the season was to end now, who would get Player of the year?
Hard to look past Neil for me, jobe has also been superb and Wilson up there because of his goals, mayenda for young player (almost a redundant award given the age of the squad)
What I thought was absolutely brilliant last night was near the end of the game, he had 3 Luton players converging on him when he had the ball. He turned as if he was going to play the ball back to either Ballard or O'Nien then sharply turned back and waltzed straight past them! If a player from Man City, Liverpool or whoever did that it would be repeated on SSN all day! An absolute brilliant piece of skill!
Talk about choice! Dan Neil or Jobe, maybe Isidor as an outside bet. Has Le Fee been at the club long enough to be considered? Young player, Dan Neil, Jobe or Rigg! Seriously looking at either Rigg or Mayenda. Pity Mundle has been injured or he could've been in the mix along with Tommy Watson Has Le Fee been at the club long enough to be considered?
On that subject, Watson and Mundle coming back soon is brilliant. We've been stumbling by without proper width and balance, really. Aouchiche and Le Fee have done / are doing their best but I'm hoping that natural threats from LW will help us a lot.
Le Fee talking about reigniting his career https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c17ekeknrqqo
Watson Mundle returning creates problems, can they or either come in on the left if so where does Le Fee go.
If Trent was playing some of those passes we’d be wiping Carragher’s jizz of Gary Neville, and vice versa!
What a turn around by Neil by the way, he struggle in the new role at the start (by his own admission aswell). Now he is a absolute joy to watch and I'd imagine he has plenty of clubs admiring him but maybe doesn't get the noise Jobe does as he doesn't have the addition of a brother regarded as world class playing for Real!
