Our points per game under Sellés were mid-table but have dropped off quite a bit recently. We’ve now averaging 1.08 per game since he joined. If we fail to win any of the next two games things could get a bit dicey.
Say we draw one of them and we have 30 points. We’d have 13 games left and be averaging exactly 1 point per game.
If the magic number is 50, we’d need 1.54 points a game, which is a better points per game ratio than Rosie managed last season. At that point it’s unlikely that we hit the 50 mark and we’ll have to hope it’s lower since we’d only be on track to earn 43 points. Unless we improve our form during the final run-in, of course.
In 14 of the last 20 seasons, the minimum amount of points needed to stay up has been 48. The absolute lowest in those 20 years was Reading and 41 points in 21/22.
We need a point more than 3 others.
