Not particularly confident. The new Luton manager has had a nice break between games to get his ideas across and I can already tell it's going to be one of them annoying, stop start games with the ball spending the majority of the time out of play. I hope and pray Jobe is fit to play. He's the glue in midfield and our performance levels drop off a cliff when he's not available. He's missed 4 league games this season and we've drawn all 4. Would go with; Patterson Hume Mepham Ballard Cirkin Le Fee Neil Jobe Mayenda Isidor Aleksic. Think we need to freshen things up in the wide areas. Roberts in particular is way too easy to play against at the moment. 1-1. Le Fee.
We are that good...at times, genuinely play some of the best football I've seen in the league but the consistency is completely lacking. That's to be expected with a young side though. We should absolutely be able to play these off the park if we start on the front foot but I'm not confident at all.
Personally I wouldn't drop Cirkin, it's not like he's been a liability. He's back from injury and has a new player, in front of him, who's unlike anything we've seen before. We can't be dropping players after a few average games imo. Who plays at Leeds, where Cirkin would be ideal, when he's just had a knock to his confidence. He scored our equaliser, as well, so I really think it would be harsh to leave him out, he's had these spells before and battled through it. Yes, Watford wasn't great but they are challenging for the play-offs and, despite a poor result, we should be confident of beating Luton again imo. Their manager has already been there for a month and there's no signs of any improvement tbh ... ... he's playing for draws and they're not scoring goals which is relegation form.
Ability is hindered when players are tired you know mate. there are no bad teams in this league this is an absolutely terrible take sorry like
Great thread again RTB, and your team will do me. Personally I would take 4 points from the next 9 on offer . So a draw here would not be a disaster, a win however would raise the bar , we have the players to do it , but will RLB pick them , that is the question. PS I would also like to see Alecsic , Samed , Brown and Roberts play some part in these next 3 games as and when, to lighten the load . OaU
Cirkin 100% stays in the team for me, his form has dipped but it's nothing drastic. He's earned the right to stay in the team and turn things round. Always useful to have in the team for attacking set pieces too.
Yes he was our most productive attacker one assist one goal - not bad for a defender , wish our right winger was producing as well as this .
think some need a rest, thats for sure. fatigue happens to us all, we are in a better postion than last season and the season before that, Win Wednesday and we close the gap / maintain it above and below us. still think there will be twist and turns, take saturday, no one saw Leeds losing in the cup, anything is possible.
Didn't notice Jobe on that training clip. Hope he's Ok, we certainly could do with him for the next two games.
I’m not so sure they’re a particularly physical team anymore. They’re falling between two posts at the minute I think and aren’t sure what they want to be. Will be Sod’s Law they nail one or t’other on Wednesday.
Aye, I was concerned with the time Bloomfield will have had on the training ground with them. Added to the fact that they brought a few in towards the end of the window. Makes it difficult for us to prepare for the match. I’m not sure Bloomfield has a reputation for the dark arts you describe there re stop start, ball out of play etc, does he?
Cheers for the quality thread again, RTB. We could do with a bit of strategic rotation to get some fresher legs and minds on the pitch for this one. A spot on the bench for Le Fee maybe - recharge his batteries (then come on for Aleksic after 60 mins). It is tricky with Mayenda at the moment as he's equally useful as a starter or as a sub to turn the game.
Not particularly, maybe i'm being lazy with that considering he's came from Wycombe and we've seen what they used to do against us and Luton the same in previous seasons
Fantastic thread, as usual RTB. 3 games this week will have kept you very busy! I would look to freshen things up a bit and accommodate ELF in his normal position in the midfield. We will need height against this lot, so the return of Jobe will be most welcome. Hope to see Seelt on the bench too. Mayenda and Aleksic in the front 3, but with licence to link up with Isidor to provide more out balls and blistering pace up front. I wouldn't drop Cirkin. He was the best LB in the league before his injury. We've let other players play themselves back into form, we need to do the same with him. Patterson Hume - Mepham - O'Nien - Cirkin Jobe - Neil - Le Fee Mayenda - Isidor -Aleksic I'm going for 3-1 win. There's goals in this side. We've scored 7 in the last 3 games. Problem is defensively we've conceded 6. We have to tighten up at the back. KTF!
Couple of things I noticed on there, worryingly no jobe anywhere and that's the first time I've seen or heard Reggie getting involved in training. Thought someone had said he likes to let his coaching team get on with it, might have something to do with being a coach down
Good shout mate, It certainly isn't as pleasant a day today as it is in that clip. Fingers crossed on Jobe.
Bloomfield had Wycombe set up to attack whereas it looks like he's gone to 30% possession and long balls up the wings on turnovers. They’ve signed players, that’s true, but nothing that should overly concern us. They’ve brought in one from Exeter, one from Wigan and a reserve from Boro from what I’ve seen. There may be others, don’t know tbh. There was a young striker from Norway but I can’t imagine he’ll be anywhere near ready to play. If he's playing them immediately that could upset the team, if not they can’t be any better than they were last time we played them … … they only had one attempt on goal, at Sheff Wed, and the manager was delighted Looks like being another feast of football, they played what looked like a 5 4 1 at Wednesday … just hope the ref isn’t afraid to book players for fouling, diving and synchronised falling to the deck off the ball.
I'm interested to see if he has just been pragmatic with them to date, until he's got the window out the way and prolonged period with them on the training ground, or whether he feels the team and situation he's inherited at Luton means that he isn't able to play his preferred style.
No easy games in this league regardless of what some think, I'd like to think we can get the win and put right a couple of sloppy games we've had recently.
