You just be colour blind as it was Roberts who was closest to him. Their lad releases the ball once Samed gets to him.

Plenty more plays are fault for their 2nd than Samed

We look really fatigued, I'd have thought with Samed, Neil and Rigg we'd have been on it with a decent press, winning 2nd balls.

I’m amazed I’m reading they look fatigued, they are the youngest most skilled squad in the league going for the title, fatigued <doh> they should be pissing it.

It's a far cry from when we went millions of games without scoring from set pieces. Goals from two corners in one game. Great ingenuity

Aye, we could do with Isak, he’s the best striker in the world you know.

Surely everyone can agree we’ve been desperately unlucky with the two injuries to our two wide left side wingers, and can’t be underestimated the unbalance we are suffering from, but when we get them back we’ll be hopefully a different and serious threat to anyone

I agree mate there seemed to be a bit of bias from the ref, they were more physical and committed a series of professional fouls which were not punished accordingly.
Another stat I heard but have not checked is that Sunderland are the second most fouled team in the division but are 14th for yellows given to opposition players. We are 13th for fouls committed but 4th for yellows received. Like I say have not checked but if true it would certainly point to an unconscious (maybe conscious) bias

What a strange sort of year it has been.

You would think that, given just how shoddy last season was, we'd all be ****ing thrilled with the progress we have made this season.

But there is just something odd about the way we play and the results we have achieved, it makes it quite hard to be level-headed and happy.

On our day we look like the best team in the league but that day comes far too rarely and the rest of the time we look like absolutely everything is a scrap.

    Time to refind our form.

I have a feeling I know exactly what it is mate.

We’re not so different to QPR or Sheff Wed in as much as we were on relegation form only last season and looked absolutely shocking. What's done our brains in is that we started off this season by looking unbeatable and it’s distorted reality.

Those other two teams are receiving enormous praise, from Sunderland supporters, for being in touching distance of the play-offs who, at the same time, are critical of ourselves. I believe were actually playing out of our skins and having to really battle to make up for our deficiencies.

We seem to forget we’re recently up from L1, have academy players and some, like Hume, Mundle, Mayenda, etc who cost peanuts. They’re not yet quite good enough, or experienced enough, to dominate teams in the way we’d like to see or win game after game.

I see them as an honest bunch of players who are learning on the job and playing to their current limits. I admire them and despair when people call them lazy or uncaring, booing them off the pitch is shameful.

They’ve had to totally relearn what's expected on the pitch after a season of total chaos as well as coping with a series of injuries. Sheff Utd have spent and spent again yet we've beaten them, Burnley, Boro, etc and are still in with a chance of automatic promotion.

I think our flying start made people think we were bigger and better than we were whereas I believe the reality is that we're really punching above our weight. If QPR or Sheff Wed were in our position people would be saying it was miraculous.

We're a young side with a new manager and a team often lacking first team starters, game time or experience yet we've battled, as you said, to where we are …

    … I really couldn’t be more proud.

Disappointed to have missed those 2 good chances at the end. Thought the ref should have played at least 8 minutes injury time as well.

Little bit of pressure on to win on Wednesday now.

Cleverley has been saying his players ran harder and longer then previously which reinforces the 'cup final' theory.

Teams coming to the SOL, particularly televised games, seem to raise their game ...

... perhaps the cramp, we thought was fake, was actually genuine.

There was a stat, last season, that 3/4's of teams who'd played us lost their next game ... hopefully not Watford this time.

    I think you're spot on.

It's a tad frustrating that we peaked early in the season regarding performances though. Hopefully we can get back to that in the last 10 games or so.

The youth of this team is very easy to forget when they're playing so well, Rigg doesn't need a rest or anything, nor do I think Jobe did despite my belief last year. I just think they're in a rough patch where really we could do with dropping them simply because weve got better options at the minute.

So many are developing though, as you say, Jobe, Rigg, Watson, Aleksic and Mayenda are all teens. Yet they represent high quality in my opinion.
