Top 2 has to be the aim, anything can happen in the play offs and the 3rd best team doesn’t always go up.

We are more than good enough for automatics it’s just consistency that we lack and that’s what frustrates me the most and why I vent after matches like yesterday. We aren’t in the top 2 simply because we’ve missed a few penalties and fluffed matches against poor teams. But that’s the difference when every point dropped is valuable. Plymouth have taken a 1/5th of their total points tally off us. We’ve done very well against the better teams in the league and we’d be a much better asset to the PL than Burnley and Sheff U in my opinion. They’re both Yo-Yo clubs and that’s all they’ll ever be; we have a very good, young squad with an ambitious owner and a forward thinking approach. If we go up we’ll likely go back down first season but I believe we’ll have plan for that and make sure when we go back up we’ll stay up.

If Man City, Liverpool, or Arsenal were 6 points off top in mid February…. Would they give up on winning the league? Not a chance and neither should we. There are so many twists and turns yet to come this season. Anything could happen. We’ve got a fantastic squad, bolstered by the signing of Le Fee and with key players coming back from injury, we’ve got every chance of automatics

I think everyone can accept that it's a major step up to the premier league and we have to be realistic about our prospects.
For me it will be a success if every player can honestly say that they are a better player at the end of that season than they were at the start. If that is the case then what will be will be.
You never know we may just surprise a few teams.
We don't expect to run away and win the league, but you can dream :emoticon-0105-wink:

There I go getting ahead of myself again

Football to me now is more about experiences which is why I'm hoping for the play offs. If we win them down at Wembley again it's another day/weekend that will live with me forever like the Wycombe weekend will.

If we go up automatically yes I'll be happy but won't really be a huge experience the moment feeling.

Basically if we go up through the playoffs and come straight back down we will all have that momentous day. If we go up in 2nd and come straight back down it will all be a bit meh.

    For me anyway

I’m down Yorkshire for the potential second leg so it’s bound to happen.

I’ll be driving back up for it, no doubt about it.

I’m sick of the whinging online when we don’t win, god knows what it’ll be like if we get humped every week.

1 thing I’ll be hopeful of, is that I can get a ticket if we get to Wembley! First season in 35 that I haven’t had a season ticket (due to my singing and would’ve only made the 6 I’ve been to so far!) and I’d be gutted if I couldn’t get one.

I still think auto is there for us. Mind. Hopeful of it too.

The fun of promotion to the PL didn't seem to last long for Ipswich fans ...

... increased prices, lost their last four and only won three games all season.

As if that wasn't bad enough they've started attracting grinning weirdos <doh>

I try to stay off the match day threads for a good few hours after a game especially a home game. There's a lot of emotive responses and a lot of negativity when it hasnt gone our way.

I get it there's times I can get pissed off with something. The late equaliser in the Plymouth game for example pissed me off. It's rare I get upset about football these days usually i just take it on the chin but it does still happen from time to time.

Some however are relentless and can literally go on for hours repeating the same thing. No issue with that it's up to them but it's not for me frankly

    And thereby lies my problem.

Opinions, even if negative ... <whistle>

Immediate, predictable, repetitive and relentless whinging ... <doh>

Stating the blindingly obvious over and over, as if only they could possibly have noticed ... :steam:

Leeds home to SUNDERLAND, WBA, Millwall, Swans, Preston, Stoke, B City. AWAY Watford, SHEFF U, Ports, QPR, Luton, Boro, Oxford, Plymouth.
Sheff U home to Boro, LEEDS, Preston, Cov, Millwall, Cardiff, Blackburn,.......AWAY luton, QPR, Sheff W, Oxford, Plymouth, BURNLEY, Stoke.
Burnley home to Hull, Sheff W, Luton, WBA, B city, Norwich, SHEFF U, Millwall. AWAY Preston, Cardiff, Swansea, Cov, Derby, Watford, QPR
Well i don't see us being caught in 4th place due to WBA's fixtures and we beat Blackburn at home and that should be that about 82 points.

Still think theres plenty of twists and turns to come as yet - reckon Sheff utd and Burnley have some slip ups to come - we just need to take advantage of that - we have a few important players to come back so you never know.

SAFC social media is very bipolar it seems - we win and we are the best thing since sliced bread - lose and we're relegation fodder - doesnt seem to be that much inbetween anymore. After the game I switched the TV off and stayed off any social media all weekend to avoid the doom and gloom.

Still think we can do automatics but if not then play offs it is - the sqaud have experience of it after luton but this time we have some game changers in the sqaud.

And I don't think the doom mongers realise, or perhaps care, that it's the effect they have.

Eventually people like you stop away, in their droves, but the moaners just keep going until they're in the majority.

Watford are three points off the play-offs but, to listen to some, Sunderland were simply abysmal against them for almost the entire game.

The same people who warn that this match, or that match, will be tougher than we think ...

... are often the same one who come straight back on enraged because we didn't win <laugh>

It seems that 'being right on the internet' is more important than the result.

Sometimes i feel like saying to these doom mongerers - were you there during the 15 & 19 point seasons or maybe being relegated to Division 3 for the first time in our history. Now THAT was doom and gloom. Some of them that missed it dont know they were born!!

The current side are head and shoulders above any of that lot despite a few iffy results - it happens - they just need to chill the **** out!

The 19 point season was my first season ticket.

I then went about 10 years till I got it back. More due to going to Uni then scratching around in poorly paid jobs or jobs that required a lot of weekend working not because I was upset at how poor we were

I'd still go when I was home or could afford it but now as long as I am financially OK and my health is good ill keep it as long as possible it's more about the experience than if we are good or bad to me.
