So Doncaster v Palace on the iPlayer tomorrow! Wouldn't it be better for Doncaster to be playing today for wider coverage than Villa v Spurs?
Archie Gray and Djed Spence starting for a team that are supposed to be chasing European football… wadnt even get a game for us
Dunno, there's something seriously weird about that club ... ... it's basically all about money and very little do do with football, it has been for half a century. Joe Lewis, who owned the club, was a crook who embezzled a fortune and the club is based almost entirely on the generation of revenue. The whole place absolutely stinks, no wonder Stavely tried to get involved.
I rate Gray and think he’ll develop into a real player, he’d be comfortably one of our better players
The Qataris were meant to be putting an offer in too. Seem like a bit of a “sleeping giant” for someone with more money than sense, already got the revenue, infrastructure, stadium etc. But when you look at their squad it’s full of £20-30m players. That’s fine if you’re Brighton with a good record of youth development and no real pressure to succeed but the teams around Spurs are spending £50-60m on players and the ones spurs have spent that on are nowhere near CL quality. If you have a midfield 3 that cost £60m in total going up against a midfield 3 that cost £60m a piece there’s more than likely only going to be one outcome.
Yeah he will develop for sure, but he didn’t even stand out for Leeds last season really. He was playing as a stand in RB. There’s no way he should be starting for someone like Spurs, never mind as one of the CB’s. I’m not sure he’d even get a start for Southampton over Walkers-Peters at RB and they’re the worst team in the league
Aye that’s what I mean, I’m saying it’s not really a fair criticism of the manager when he’s having to field the players he is. Djed Spence wouldn’t either
Success isn't the goal, sadly for their fans. They routinely fill their high priced stadium with corporates, tourists and 'lifelong Spurs fans' from around the globe, have a merchandising operation that literally prints money and does enough to make it look like their chasing previous glories. They're everything that's wrong with modern football and will never change. Why spend 100% more money for a 50% increase in revenue?
Still, Spurs should not be 14th in the PL. They’ve been embarrassing this season, regardless of injuries
That’s just modern football unfortunately now mate. Look at them ****ers up the road. Giving 30% of away tickets to corporate every game. Whenever the news is interviewing around the stadium they find one person who sounds like a Geordie for every 3 that don’t. Their fanbase has totally changed from what it was 20 years ago. If you’ve ever watched Brighton I think they’re a good example, people use this as this blueprint of a successful football club yet when you watch their matches their fans barely celebrate. Nothing club in a proxy stadium to challenging European football within a decade and their fans have all crawled out from nowhere.
Oh I’m not disagreeing mate. But I don’t think Spurs have ever been a given for top 4 and now we’re seeing teams even like Villa and Newcastle spend massively it’s easy for them to be pushed down the table. There was a period where there was the “big 6” who spent and nobody else did so no matter how ****e they were they generally stayed up in the top half, now the others are throwing money at it and catching up. There’s not really any “bad” teams in the PL other than the ones who newly promoted.
That's why the super league will eventually happen. For every 1 local fan there will be 5 tourists that will buy more at the club ship, pay more for tickets etc. Despite the "big clubs" saying their fans wo t allow it, they know deep down they have no option but to accept what's coming
Them ****ers up the road claiming they’re all the loyalist fans of the lot yet they can’t get a ticket “because there’s a waiting list” or using the good old boycott excuse. Would love to see how many of them would still be on a waiting list if they dropped down to L1 and the Saudis f**ked off.
Levy out chants from the spurs fans. Maybe they have finally realised being top of the profit league means nothing when your bottom half of the league and going out of the fa cup
That's exactly right and why I roll my eyes when I see people post that we should be showing ambition and trying to compete. It's impossible and pointless. When you watch a Spurs/Arsenal/Chelsea game, and there's a throw-in, the first few rows are like a scene from Enter the Dragon ... ... the clubs sell season tickets to touts who sell the match tickets to agencies supplying tourists. It's basically 'Madame Tussauds in the morning, Spurs in the afternoon and Les Miserables in the evening'. Wealthy tourists can arrange it all before they leave home and be guaranteed a seat ... ... genuine Spurs fans just see the seat prices go up and their team going nowhere. It's irrelevant, the tourists couldn't care less if Spurs win anything, they're only there for one game ... ... if it's Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal all the better but anyone will do.
