forget 'transfer kitty' as such. I reckon 'salary kitty' is a more pertinent variable. After all, in theory we could get Nicholas Anelka for nowt in January, but I think there will be other reasons why he doesnt come

Anelka won't go for nothing, they're expecting to get at least £4m for him.

Rumours of Spurs and Stoke both being interested.

No way would Papa allow a championship busting wage deal. He knows where that leads!!! As we all do. Thats why you only approach players you can afford. Simples.

I'm not sure he's in charge of anything any more.

Of course he is, he's in charge of the football operation. Transfer negotiations are his job. He doesn't pick the players though.

If we're happy that Liam Cooper is good enough cover at centre half (along with McShane), I'd go along with the school of thought that we need a Goalie and a forward, and perhaps a winger to replace Brady (if he returns to United).

Macheda is garbage. I'm not having him. I'd buy/loan Sam Vokes ideally. There's a guy at Augsburg called Sascha Molders who I like a load too. No idea what his price would be. He'd be a cracking signing though.

Goalie is a tricky one. Don't be wowed by goalies who make a load of saves against us. Goalies who distribute and come for crosses too are rare. I'd buy Mannone (ideally again).

This one would need Newcastle to strengthen before they'd let him out but if Brady goes back, I like Sammy Ameobi.

No, because I've done it a million times before and that last post wasn't a dig anyway.

until it comes to the transfer window and Barmby presents his list of targets to pearson and we see how many of that list are sanctioned to be signed or in negiotiations and then not signed - we can then see what Barmby's and Papa Allam's future for the club is. i'm certain that Barmby will not make a list of high cost signings that a certain mr brown made to mr duffen and mr bartlett

How can you be so sure of that? Are you God? (Or just 'touched by God'?)

There is no doubt that there will be money available, but there is also no doubt that it will be spent wisely or not at all. I would think Barmby has already given AP his preferences and that initial enquiries have been made - this new crew do not let the grass grow! Before everyone starts totting up all the supposed incomings and the promised kitty, perhaps they might consider that extra funds for Koren, etc. will have to come from this budget. Now go and get Ebanks-Blake and Myhill.
