I’ll be honest. First time I thought it could happen the other night Something will have to change though, we’re struggling against poor opposition
Hopefully see more time for Aleksic and others to freshen it up. Ballard too. Some of the usual look like they need a rest.
Rigg will be a top player but we’re chasing automatics, we shouldn’t be putting his development over what’s best for the team. That midfield 3 today would be a mid table midfield at best this season imo. Samed is a very defence minded midfielder so I’m not sure why people are surprised after watching him play like that, Neil offers nout offensively as the 8 and Rigg has been shyte for months. It was a recipe for disaster. I know it’s easy to say afterwards because hindsight is a great thing but I don’t think anyone was brimming with confidence seeing that midfield on the team sheet
We give away too many sloppy goals, we've scored 7 goals in our last 3 games which is class - conceded 6 tho We have too many moments in the game where we don't control things well enough Win against Luton and today's point will look better We need to start stringing a few wins together tho I'll be more confident of our chances once Watson, Browne and Mundle are back - they will add so much to this squad Poveda had a couple nice moments so IF he stays fit he should get better and better
I think we should be putting players development 1st, that's what will get us success both short and long term however, dropping a player can actually be good for their development I think Rigg would be a cracking sub for us over the next few weeks, he picks up some great positions but he's just too sluggish on the ball at the minute
This for me. our finishing has improved I know we missed chances but we shouldn’t need 3 goals at home to win a game defence has gone to **** as long as we stay touching distance of the top two our squad is only getting stronger
Really poor there, need to move the ball a lot quicker and play with more tempo at home. A think Watford played well tbf to them
That’s exactly what I think. They've had a lot of really intense games like Sheff Utd, Burnley, Boro and they look jaded. Isidor can’t be expected to score wonder goals every game and we need to pressurise and panic teams, especially at home.
Defensively as a team it's been so poor, the 2nd goal for them sums it up. While it's a great finish, Rigg loses the ball under no pressure and then we never really pressure the ball
Incredibly frustrating that. Our response to going 1-0 up is shocking, sat off and let them play their way into it. Its a pen, and then its a great strike. Almost a perfect away performance because we didn't look like scoring at all, thankfully we did. Two big chances at the end to win it as well. Not sure Samed is the answer at home, its like playing with a handbrake on. Also not sure why we've gone away from playing Mayenda up with Wilson at home, it worked well against both Sheff Utd and Portsmouth. Christ did we miss Jobe, it felt like we had no physicality at all in the middle and we struggled to boss that part of the pitch. I thought the ref was shocking. Watford consistently allowed to get away with niggly fouls, 20 fouls for 1 yellow card says it all. Only 5 mins added as well despite a load of timewasting. I want to see us approach home games differently.
Another day to forget . I hope not being able.to finish off teams like Watford and Plymouth doesn't cost us come May. We really dont deserve to finish in the top 2 otherwise
That pass from Rigg was so sloppy then no one closes the shot down gives him time to brilliantly find the top corner
@JamesCopley_ Le Bris says Sunderland started well and finished well but admits 'powerful' Watford caused them a lot of problems. Says they identified Sunderland's main weakness as a team. #SAFC
It’s as if each player had a pint of Horlicks to drink just before kick off. The ref didn’t help much by giving them a free kick every time one of our players made a tackle. Before kick off, our team looked like a banker win but were made to look very ordinary by a team that were not great.
Great O'Nien scored, but he nearly cost us two penalties. Roberts, again, great on the ball, defensive responsibilities he offers nothing. Cirkin, great intercepting and putting his foot in, sometimes unnecessarily, hence the penalty. On the whole we were too complacent, we can win this by just turning up.
They did exactly the same down there. We lack power and presence. Samed actually doesn't even offer this.
Def annoyed and pi$$Ed off with that today but there were positives to take from today 2 goals from set pieces, both seemed liked planned ones The subs made an impact today, I really like Aleksic and I'd be tempted to start him against Luton. Mayenda is some talent, just feel like stuff will happen when he's on the pitch, the pass for Isidors chance was top draw We never gave up and we fought to get back into the game and we had chances to win it. We need to improve our game control though, some really sloppy passes and too many times we forced things Automatics is still on but we need to start killing teams off. I do feel we will hammer a team soon as we are creating more chances last couple of months. We are such a hard team to play against as we don't give up and we have players with individual quality Get a win against Luton and we will feel better going into the Leeds game
