Isn't Curtis starting to play upfront? hence the goal boom recently Jake Sinclair - add him to the list of potential 1st teamers!
The goals and reaction from Doddsy and Joe Curtis is on Saintsplayer if anyone is interested. Joe Curtis is playing 'in the hole' or whatever you want to call it, hence the goals.
yeah he has been playing in CM, but recently up front (or guessing so looking at the sides) and scoring as if its going out of fashion
Looks like we have got some bright promising youngsters looking to breakthrough Brilliant news that gets somewhat overlooked at times
Watching the goals on Player, I don't think Wenger will be too pleased with the future of his defence. First goal, their defender should clear the bad cross further than the feet of an onrushing Curtis, second goal, a defender should get to the rebound first and third goal, Sinclair runs through incredibly easily. I can pretty confidently say that any Championship first team wouldn't let those in. If that's the norm for youth matches, we need to take the results with a pinch of salt.
Typical wenger players then, since he has been in charge their defence has been ****. He badly needs to have someone help him with it, but i'm guessing he's to arrogant to admit he is getting it wrong.
He's got a house in Marchwood that overlooks our academy. He spies on his future acqusitions through binoculars from his bedroom window.
First goal, defender couldn't really do much more with it as he's going the wrong direction. Was a very good tidy finish from Curtis mopping up on the edge of the area. Second goal, good poaching. Defenders were never going to be first to that ball as the two strikers reacted quicker. Last goal, when defending, you don't just dive in and tackle. If someone is running at you with pace like Sinclair has, you drop back to the 18 yard line before making a tackle. This was then finished by a smart drop of the shoulder and a very good finish.
I'm sure Wenger looks at our academy like a child catcher in a toyshop - in other words he doesnt know where to look
On reflection, for the second goal, I think their goalkeeper should do better to avoid pushing the ball into the path of our striker. Either way, it's dreadful defending even by Arsenal standards. Happened again when their keeper parried it straight to one of our players, he centred it and the attack fizzled out. The younsters from around the country/world that they bring in for serious fees will be playing in the next tier, so those lads are probably mostly the ones they get from scouring their catchment. They aren't as good at it as they like to think.
