wow op must be happy with 6th. I for one will never lower my expectations.. thats called supporting everton!
Who said that I have low expectations? Perhaps my sense of reality helps me to understand that it's a marathon, not a sprint. Some idiots couldn't see progress if it came and slapped them in the face.
That would be grate, also if you could return those 3 points on the return leg to Anfield would be nice too.
we're falling way behind inm the table... anyone who dares say it is called a doom mongerer... end of story..
To be honest I haven't actually noticed any doom mongering. I consider doom mongerers are posters like Wakka, they only show up on the forum when we lose and start slating good players like Lucas and saying Kenny should be sacked. Nothing wrong with criticizing the team or manager but there are limits and at least have an opinion before the game or after some of the wins.
Way behind Well, if you were naive enough to imagine we'd win it, you'd be right! Roy Hodgson had us way behind and we were playing the worst football I'd seen us play....ever. We've come a long way and while I too would like us to be comfortably nestled in the top four, or even top, I know progress when i see it. Are we the finished article, not bu a long way. To be fair, I aim this article at the idiots who start to question the management or really believed that we could win the EPL, not you MITO, I understand your frustration, don't think for a second that I didn't feel frustrated during and after the game yesterday; I just take a slightly longer term view on things and so it becomes easier to swallow a poor result. However, had we/if we play lile we did under RH or versus Spurs/Swansea consistently, you'll hear my frustration......but so far, that's the exception, not the norm.
"Here they come..............." Walking down the street, They get the funniest looks from, Everyone they meet. Hey, het they're the Monkees, And people say they monkey around. .............................etc
and well behind what 4th... actually the gap is opening. high expectations should mean something. I enjoyed mostly the game last night, i find suarez annoying and brilliant in what he does and how he falls over. i just think we're at the point where an honest assessment says yes we are much improved but we are not where we'd like to be... in two ways. 1. the players we have are not quite delivering on what they could deliver (getting things on target would help, sometimes work ethic as well) 2. we have more work to go do to improve. Spurs have defoe to come on and get a win v fulham.. we only had kuyt. best will in the world dirk is never an impact sub is he? We can get better but its near time to call a spade a spade and say 4th is just not on. I predicted ups and downs and enjoyment this year before the big kick off and thats happened. 4th looks to be too tough for this set of players, arsenal, chelsea, spurs and utd all have good groups (too, ours is good) but they just have a few more options right now. we have played arsenal, chelsea, utd, city, two wins two draws... we lost a one off type game v spurs where we were 0-1 down then down to 9 mena nd they only got a few late goals to break us down... overall we compete on the big day but can't win the bread and butter, ergo we'll fall further behind the top 4. thats the way ti is.. Doom mongering though? I don't think so... like i said if i were happy being 6th i'd be an everton fan!
I think a little context/perspective is called for. We were on the rocks less than a year ago. I actually thought that if RH had continued that we'd of been in a relegation fight. Some of our key players wanted to leave, one did. Previously, we'd lost one of the best, no THE best CM pairing in the EPL and replaced them with fringe players; G&H had grossly under-invested in LFC full stop......and here we are, less than one year since RH was playing the likes of Poulsen and we are deeply disappointed to not be in the top 4 right now....that's real progress Please show me one football club or one organisation of any kind that went from zero to hero in the way you want us to.
The simple fact is that we were close to getting a top four spot last year and we were ****ing diabolical for the first half of the season...we have improved no end since then and just need to keep up a similar rate of improvement. We have had a good run in the cup so far and are at least playing better footy than we have for a while in the league. Last night we deserved a lot more than we got and quite simply we were (yet again) on the wrong end of almost every decision...and lady luck seems more than happy to keep shoving her thumb up our collective arses (and wiggling it around a bit) because I've never known a team to hit the post and bar so much without any reward. I find it hard to believe we'll have as much bad luck second half of the season as we've had so far in the first half of it. We still have issues on the field but did anyone think they'd be sorted overnight? Just be grateful we have owners and a manager now who know what they're doing and know how to go about changing things for the long term benefit of the club Bad result last night but wasn't exactly a terrible performance. YNWA
Being disappointed and frustrated when we fail in games we should win is not being a doomster. No disrespect to Fulham but we should dominate games like this if we are to be serious top four challengers, it's not enough to say we could have won it- we simply have to win these games. I too, refuse to lower my expectations- that's what Woy told us we should do, and that's why he was always going to fail. We have improved since Hodgson got the chop, but we were coming from an extremely low starting point so I'd bloody well hope so. We still obviously have a long way to go, and saying this is being realistic- not negative. I'm still bloody furious at last night's game, and I'll still be as positive as ever come Saturday.
Well said mate - it's been the story of our season, good performances but bad results. If we were playing poorly and got the saem results, then I'd be more worried.
if we buy a proper striker..... win the carling cup, zoom up to 4th somehow i think most guys would be happy but in the end we all hand on heart know if we don't go do better than 6th again kenny won't be left round and we won't get better players again. I think we've done well off the field but on it i thin kthe players we have should be doing better for kenny. he's been brave and dropped caragher, he's given lads chances... i'd hope some guys would work a bit harder and some guys just plain deliver (mr downing)
I love it when Liverpool fans finally realise that their start of season predictions are once again incorrect.
fine opinion but other clubs have improved since then too. wish we had spend wisely all that FSG money.
People need to chill the **** out and stop panicking after one result that we were totally robbed in by the ref and just ignore blatant wum's even if they do have Liverpool username's.
To be fair it's not just the one result people are reacting to is it? This time around there is less of a panic than here was vs Swansea.
