underland Under-21s put on a five-star performance to seal an emphatic victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League 2.

Goals from Timur Tutierov, Ahmed Abdullahi, Rhys Walsh, Jaydon Jones and Finn Geragusian sealed the three points at the Academy of Light.

Graeme Murty made two changes from the side that faced Wolves just five days ago in the PL Cup. Jenson Seelt and Abdullahi both started to build up match fitness.

Despite a strong start from the visitors, the Lads took the lead on the half-hour mark. Tutierov cut inside and buried the ball into the corner.

It was two moments before the break. Abdullahi with a low strike to get his first goal in red and white.

The momentum continued in the second half. Substitute Geragusian fed the ball through for Walsh to grab the third and his first league goal of the season.

15 minutes from time, Walsh was involved once again, assisting Jones to roll the ball underneath the 'keeper for the fourth after a fine team move.p

The game was wrapped up in stoppage time. Geragusian who scored twice on Monday, again in the goals, running through and sealing the fifth with a delicate chipped effort.

Graeme Murty's side now jump up to eighth in the PL2 with a return to action on Tuesday in a crucial PL Cup group stage game against Huddersfield Town at Eppleton CW.

SAFC: Chibueze, Lavery, Bell, Seelt, Bainbridge (60 Jenson Jones), Middlemas (45 Lenz), Jaydon Jones, Whittaker (90 Kindon), Walsh, Tutierov, Abdullahi (45 Geragusian)

Am I remembering right under Donald when we’d lost nearly every game in a season (maybe got a draw). Might have been u23s back then. Feels like a big turn around

Hate how people say they weren’t too bad. Donald ran the club into the ground for his own personal gain. The academy was on the verge of closing Generational talent sold off The turn around has been incredible

100%. Academy should be central to the club. The strategy KLD has brought in has been perfect. Speakman expertise was in youth development and it’s all just fed through the club from top to bottom on the playing side. U21s got to the final last year, hopefully the first team makes the step up this year with the youngest squad in the league and multiple homegrown players. Foundation is there for us, just got to make that final step.

This idea that the lads who were flogged "aren't that good" as well, is a terrible take. Barring the ones that have been successful, people thrive in different environments, whos to say they wouldn't have come in and developed better whilst here. Some players take longer than others too.

Couple years longer and there’s no patto, Neil, Watson or Rigg, we lost a hell of alot of talent but thank **** we managed to keep hold of those flourishing now

Didn't we only keep hold of Neil because he refused to go?
There's something in the back of my mind about that.

I was told by someone who knows the family that Donald and co were touting him around, it could be bollocks but don’t see why they’d make it up

That's probably a more reasonable explanation rather than my defective recollection.

I heard similar, think Wolves were wanting him but Neil didn't want to go but Donald and Co were keen on him leaving

From what I was told it was for 300k

Now worth around 20 million (depending on contract situation), captaining the team and been the heart beat of the team last 2 seasons

It's frightening where we could have ended up, if KLD hadn't come in to save the day

Seelt has looked sharp and fit in all these games. He can’t be far from being ready for proper first team availability.

Might be a silly question, but when a young player (Seelt for example) is out for a year does he lose a years development/improvement or are there other factors that could mitigate that so he maybe is only 6 months behind where he would have been?
