Our hosts, Coventry City, are playing on Saturday against Ipswich in the cup. In the league, they will be keen to get back on track having lost their last game, 0-2 against Leeds United. Before that loss, they'd won four in a row. Like us, that good run, and the twelve points they gained, mean they sit comfortably mid table and are well clear of the relegation scrap. Their top scorer is Haji Wright with 7 goals...and their manager is someone many on here won't warm to, Frank Lampard, Ch*****'s record goalscorer. As for us, it was good to get back to winning ways last time out, after two losses. We are quite comfortably mid-table, level on points with Coventry, but a playoff push is well within our grasp. With Dembele and Varane close to return, hopefully we'll see our attacking options boosted and our midfield sure up...but I may be speaking too soon, as we don't want to rush them back. Marti Cifuentes; “I have always said to the players that we have the quality and in recent weeks we have been showing it but we still have 15 games to go. “We have to keep working and producing the quality and results we desire to help us reach our specific targets at the end of the season.” "QPR’s spell of form since the November international break has seen the R’s pull themselves away from the relegation battle to move mid-table in the Championship – although Cifuentes has little interest in the current standings. “I am not thinking of the table or even looking at it,” he said. “I won’t until the last five or six games of the season when we are closer to our ultimate targets, but I don’t believe in the long term in football. “First it will be Coventry and then, after that, it is Derby. We will take it game by game.” Enjoy if you are making the trip, and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
£30 a ticket but the issue with this ground is getting there and away. It’s the closest ground to me but the transport is so ****, especially for evening games, it becomes a nightmare. Last season got there by local train (two carriages, one an hour, sardines) but was impossible to get on one back, it’s miles to walk into town and the buses were also packed, so ended up spending £50 on a cab. There is no free parking locally, if you go to the mega tescos over the road it’s payday for whoever runs that car park, and the ground charges £18. A deeply fan unfriendly experience. Pondering whether to go or not. On the plus side it was great fun last year, a win and Kevin Gallen in the bar. Cheers Dave.
Just noticed the perfect consistency of Paul Furlong's record for us. Three spells in all and in each one he scored one goal for every 3 appearances precisely. That is spooky. Not to mention his paltry return for Coventry! No wonder they moved him on.
I put the question of who has played for both teams into Deepseek AI: Several players have played for both Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Coventry City during their careers. Here are some notable ones: 1. **Gary McSheffrey** - He played for Coventry City and had a loan spell at QPR. 2. **Dexter Blackstock** - He played for QPR and later joined Coventry City on loan. 3. **Michael Doyle** - He played for Coventry City and later had a brief stint at QPR. 4. **Jay Bothroyd** - He played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 5. **Claus Bech Jørgensen** - He played for both clubs during his career. 6. **Marcus Hall** - He played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 7. **Steve Staunton** - He had a brief loan spell at QPR and also played for Coventry City. 8. **Lee Cook** - He played for QPR and later joined Coventry City on loan. 9. **Richard Shaw** - He played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 10. **Gary Borrowdale** - He played for QPR and later joined Coventry City. 11. **Gareth Ainsworth** - Played for both QPR and Coventry City. 12. **Marc Edworthy** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 13. **Paul Furlong** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City. 14. **Steve Sedgley** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 15. **Tony Roberts** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City. 16. **John Eustace** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 17. **Leon Clarke** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 18. **Danny Gabbidon** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City. 19. **Adam Barton** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 20. **Sone Aluko** - Played for QPR (on loan) and later joined Coventry City. 21. **Michael Mancienne** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City on loan. 22. **Jordan Archer** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City on loan. 23. **Jack Grimmer** - Played for Coventry City and later joined QPR. 24. **Bright Samuel** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City on loan. 25. **Fitz Hall** - Played for QPR and later joined Coventry City.
1. Can't see anything linking McSheffrey to us. 2. Can't see anything linking Blackstock to them. 3. Can't see anything linking Doyle to us. 4. Bothroyd - good shout, added. 5. Can't see anything linking him to us. 6. Can't see anything linking him to us. 7. Can't see anything linking him to us. 8. Can't see anything linking him to us. 9. Can't see anything linking him to us. 10. Good should, added. Three options to explain this. Either Wikipedia player records are crap, I can't read, or the AI stuff isn't all it is cracked up to be.
One of the few away grounds I've been to where we lost 3 nil or maybe 3:1. Payback would be nice please!
I just hadn't heard any indication he was out with an injury. He was on the Bench for Blackburn but came on with Fox for the final minutes to help protect the 3 points. I thought he didn't start mainly as a result of Chair moving to the central midfield 10 role and one of Morgan, Field and Varane needing to make way. Maybe it was Varanne partly as he needed a rest more than the others, though Morgan looks like he needs a rest most of those 3 to me.
Appreciate it was a weekend so could be different this time but last year I ended up walking directly forward as we came out the away end (i.e. away from the casino) in that direction for 5-10 mins and could get an Uber from there pretty quickly.
