Turn off the A19 at 7am this morning dropping the boy at work, onto an unlit country road and missed hitting a cyclist by inches.
Dressed all in black no light at the rear wobbling from side to side.
This isn't the first time, do these blokes not realise how invisible they are in the dark?
A bloke further down the road lit up like an Xmas tree when my lights hit his reflective strips and dayglo top.<ok>
This isn't a Clarkson rant against cyclists I just want to be able to avoid running the buggers over.

And if the woman who drives along the A19 at the same time, in her little Seat is reading this, driving at 45 Mph in the outside lane, making everyone undertake you when everyone is trying to get to work, is dreadful driving, please drop to the inside lane!

As a cyclist I would never dream of riding on the roads in the dark without lights and reflective clothing..

I literally did miss him by inches Reg.
If it had been a lorry came up on him at the same position the cyclist would have been tonight's Echo headline.

The son in law cycles to work too, on a bike that cost more than some cars I have had.
He wears reflective clothing even in daylight.

    Little question chaps.
Is 45 classed as "middle aged"?

Not asking for myself you understand......(Please say no).

    Why not.
MackemsRule didn't state the age but have you seen the price of lamb lately or do you prefer mutton?
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth Syd.

She was there again this morning, outside lane driving between 40 and 50 mph, so she isn't even travelling at a constant speed.
Don't know if she travels all the way up to Newcastle, but she is single handedly backing up traffic.
Raining this morning too, I undertook her matching speed and glanced across. She looks to be in her 30s and gripping the steering wheel for dear life staring straight ahead!
A lorry driver hammered his horn at her and frightened us around him, more than he will have done her. :p
