Yeah that’s why I said it’s needed. But unfortunately I agree with you. It seems like a million miles away right now
Well that's conjecture really. So it's moot But we are where we are. And statehood is the only resolution to Palestinians securing the future of their own lands. As far away as that seems right now
it's not really conjecture as Jordan and Egypt didn't hand over the West Bank or Gaza to the newly created Palestine
They didn't, but it's conjecture to say that a Palestinian state would not have been created since. We even got to a stage where it looked like it was on the cards after the Oslo accords. But like I say, we are where we are. And it still remains the missing piece in the puzzle to secure equity in the region.
So when are you and the rest of the Anglo Saxon settlers going to hand over Cornwall to the Cornish and pay reparations for invading their sovereign county
Jordan annexed the West Bank in 1948. It held it for almost two decades. In that time not a single serious effort was made to establish a Palestinian state in that territory. At no point since has it been easier than it was then. Jordan lost control of the West Bank in 1967. It refused to relinquish it's claim (note: to the exclusion of a Palestinian claim) until 1988 as part of the prelude to Oslo. Anyone who thinks the Palestinians' fellow Arabs support them is severely deluded.
The three male hostages released today didn't look in the best of health, but not surprised, and will also find out their loved ones are dead. It wouldn't surprise me once all the hostages are out if this kicks off again - especially with Hamas parading themselves the way they were today in large numbers and armed. In fact I'm sure Israel will be going after them again, this is far from over.
Hamas have been a disgrace the way they’ve handled it. Israel should wait until the last hostages are handed over and then drop a bomb right on the lot of them.
What Hamas seem to forget with the prisoners that Israel have released, especially the high profile ones, it will now make them legitimate targets, I can see a few of them being taken out for sure. Then Hamas can take off their uniforms and go and run and hide behind the kids again.
They are displaying the same rank stupidity that led to Oct 7th in the first place. Their behaviour during the hostage releases is simply enraging the Israeli right wing, stoking up flames of animosity again and ramping up pressure to resume the conflict as soon as the last hostage is back. Anyone who thinks Hamas can continue governing Gaza after this genuinely needs to be sectioned.
Indeed. Trump needs to pull his head out of his arse with his Riveria complex idea, booting Palestinians out and handing soverignty over to Israel, because that's just going to amount to ethnic cleansing and will spark another long war. For all of the flaws of the last US administration, Blinken at least had the right idea that the territory should be governed by the PA with international partners and overseen by the UN 'We believe that the Palestinian Authority should invite international partners to help establish and run an interim administration with responsibility for key civil sectors in Gaza, like banking, water, energy, health, civil coordination with Israel. The international community would provide funding, technical support, and oversight. The interim administration would include Palestinians from Gaza and representatives from the PA—selected following meaningful consultation with communities in Gaza—and would hand over complete responsibility to a fully reformed PA administration as soon as it’s feasible. The administrators would operate in close cooperation with a senior UN official, who should oversee the international stabilization and recovery effort. An interim security mission would be made up of members of partner nation security forces and vetted Palestinian personnel. Its responsibilities would include creating a secure environment for humanitarian and reconstruction efforts and ensuring border security, which is crucial to preventing smuggling that could allow Hamas to rebuild its military capacity. We would stand up a new initiative to train, to equip, to vet a PA-led security force for Gaza to focus on law and order and gradually take over for the interim security mission.' I have no idea where Witkoff and Rubio are on this plan or if it's even still seen as a viable option in the current US administration, as policy making seems to be done by Trump when he's on the ****ter each morning and then his lackeys just fall into line.
I do rather fear that the trend of hostage releases from the physically healthy to what we saw this week means bad things for those still set to be released. Israelis ain’t happy about it and we aren’t just talking the right.
You’re right, the best way to deal with thick racists is probably to ignore them. There’s a lot of them around though, and they are hard to ignore because the thick racist ****s never shut up.
I'm not sure rewarding a corrupt, dysfunctional and deeply unpopular political entity with more power and even statehood is necessarily the best idea ever.
