So Gazans have changed their minds and now don't want to be there - so I was right, it was ridiculous allowing them back. Gazans asking for help to take them out of their hell hole, are the arab nations listening...'we are treated like animals.' Horrendous conditions. I'm not sure it equates to Gazans having changed their minds as a collective about staying in Gaza, but there are clearly people struggling out there and it's clear that they need much more aid than they are currently getting. Anybody who wants to leave should be allowed to and if there was any justice, Israel should pay for their relocation and be made to guarantee that they can return. They are the ones who unleashed this hell on those people, they are the ones who should put it right.
No mate, you don't care, you have never cared. You only care about winning political arguments. People don't come to the forefront of your mind, unless it's a business adventure in Gaza. The reason the war started was because of the horrific attack on the 7th Oct, the reason Palestinians are suffering now, is not because of Israel, but because of the likes of Iran and Hamas, and the reason they stil suffer is because of the absense of Arab nations reaching out to them, with the exception of Jordan. It's quite clear you are anti israel, that could not be any more clear, whether you are actually anti semetic I'll let others decide, but stop pretending you care, you don't, it's only badge you wear, a flag to wave.
If we want to talk about refugees, we should be looking at the Israeli population. please log in to view this image Did Algeria pay for their houses in Israel, did Pakistan, did Oman, did Libya? No. When they expelled Jews, did any of these countries provide humanitarian aid to Israel to support this mass migration?
If the UK fell out with Germany and the Germans blitzed the UK, I wouldn't expect the Germans to reach out and rehome us, but I would expect the countries around us to assist in relocation, so France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands. Much like Poland and other countries helped rehome Ukranians. Yes Russia took some in, but my belief is they were Russian anyway, as Putin recognised they couldn't live in a flattened City. So why does the same not apply in the Middle East is all I ask.
I think the difference is in that scenario, those countries would expect UK citizens to be able to return to their own country, rather than absorb us as Asylum seekers, because our country had been flattened and then handed over to become German territory. That's what's being proposed in Gaza, that the people are forcibly removed, the US go in and build a shiny new resort and then soveriegnty is handed over to Israel. If there was a guarantee that Palestinians could return to their homeland, then maybe Jordon and Egypt would be willing to temporarily house them. But as it is, they would see it as being complicit in making them permanent refugees, never allowed to return to their homeland.
True. With regard to Gaza and the Palestinians, it's been made clear to them that they would never be allowed to return. Their homeland would be turned over to Israel. There's no way other Arab nations are going to be complicit in absorbing Palestinians into their countries knowing this.
There is never a guarantee with any refugee when they will go back. In the UK they apply to stay upto five years, then can apply to remain. Why are we treating Palestinians different to any other refugee...or why are Arab nations not playing the same role as we have to when boat people come here. You seem to be making constant excuses for it....such as either blame Israel, or blame Israel or...er blame Israel.I could argue Somalians and Sudenese are not our problem but then I'll be accused of being racist. It's double standards in my eyes.
Just to use that example, if somebody was saying that they were going to forcibly remove the population of Somalia and the UK should take them in, knowing that they could never return because their country was going to be given away to somebody else, we would never agree to it.
You know as well as I do most Somalians will probably never go back. Some of the current Somalian population have been here since the 80's, and those that did return home, migrated again when civil war broke out (ongoing). So sorry mate but you are clutching at straws, to defend the Palestinian argument.
Probably not, but they do have the right to return. Somalia still has it's own Sovereignty. Palestine would cease to exist if the people were forcibly removed.
Recurring denials hamper aid delivery to north Gaza Partners on the ground were forced to cancel or delay missions in two instances due to excessive delays at Israeli checkpoints or because agreed routes were unpassable. “Humanitarian partners’ ability to respond to extensive needs in the northern side of Gaza is being curtailed by recurring denials of access for aid deliveries and lack of coordinated safe access by the Israeli authorities,” OCHA said. The UN agency noted that Israel has denied multiple planned missions this week to deliver urgent medical supplies to the Central Drug Store in Gaza City as well as fuel to water and sanitation facilities, both there and in the north. https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/01/1145422
They are not forcibly removed, they can't live there ffs, it's inhabitable right now. No one knows what the future holds in 5 or 10 years time. the same as they don't for any other refugee. Take Ukraine, whole cities flattened, and then rebuilt by Putin, will Ukranians be able to go back there or want to go back there, or just be replaced by more pro Russians, I've no idea how it works.
No, but it's internationally agreed in law that it is Palestinian territory. Statehood is what is needed. Before it's just annexed and then eventually absorbed into Israel.
I was talking about Somalia's soveriegnty I was quite careful not to say Palestinian sovereignty as none currently exists.
