I was worried about this game before the kick off, it had a 1-0 defeat written all over it so for me it’s as pleasing as the 7-0 We’re always going to miss more chances than we score, law of averages and all that so hopefully we’ve evened out the 7-0 with the misses tonight We can enjoy an FA Cup game now whilst the pressure is on Sunderland and Sheffield to win. Before tonight, from the remaining 18 games, I felt we needed 33 points for promotion 10 wins 3 draws, now we’re into single digits, 9 wins three draws
Meslier - 9. One world class save from Simms header, one very good save on to the bar. Smartly off his line to gather a couple of times. His best performance of the season. I won't mention the flap at an early corner. Bogle - 8. Impressive run of form continues after a slow start to the season. Another goal but he's almost our playmaker at this point. Rodon - 8. Simms switched to Ampadu after getting no change out of Joe. Solid. Ampadu - 7. Too many sloppy passes 1st half, Simms made him look weak at times 2nd half. Still read the game well and stepped in numerous times to intercept. Firpo - 7. Fine defensively and offered an outlet on the left. Works well with Solomon. Gruev - 7. Not quite at his top level but rustiness is slowly going away. Kept it simple and things just ticked along nicely. A few passes went astray. Tanaka - 10. As near a perfect midfield performance as you'll see. Just lacking one of his 30 yarders going in. Aaronson - 7. Lots of running and pressing but passed when he should be shooting and tries to shoot when he should be passing. Creates alot of space for those operating around him. James - 7. Great runs to get in behind regularly but woeful finishing. The Dan James of 3 or 4 years ago. Kept going though. Solomon - 9. Really finding his feet. Lovely assist for the first and was our most potent threat all night. Piroe - 7. Great finish to put us ahead but missed easier chances as the game went on. Decent. Subs. Ramazani - 7. Offered a serious threat from the bench. Should be scoring. Gnonto - n/a. Busy Joseph - n/a. Kept the pressure on Coventry. Guilavogui - n/a. Struijk - n/a. Farke - 10. Completely out though Lampard and not his fault we missed multiple chances. Picking Gruev was proven and astute decision.
Really impressive win that. It might suprise some people but Coventry are one of the better teams in this division and we've made them look extremely ordinary.
Yes, only the wasteful chances up front kept that from being another massacre, great result away from home . we march on
Just switched to ITV 4 and Tanaka now helping out James Bond, is there nothing this man can’t do tonight
Well done Mes, don't get to say that as often as I'd like but fully deserves praise tonight. Great/frustrating win, it's 3 points either way. They kind of looked better in the second half but we changed our approach at half time and but for wasteful finishing it should have worked, maybe there is more to Farke. Weak link for me and has been for several games is Aaronson, he's a second behind everyone else.
5 wins 2 draws from the last 11. We had 8 wins 3 draws from the last 15 which equates to the same points as 9 wins. We can conclude that the exact same run in from last season would be good enough to get 93 points this season.
We have a horrible end of the month, Sunderland, Sheffield, West Brom. Two of the games are at home though. The rest of our fixtures are not looking too bad, if we’re down to 3 points needed by mid April then we have H Preston A Oxford H Stoke H Bristol
All valid points but as we all know by now having supported Leeds a lifetime, that’s no how football works. Suppose it’d be pretty boring if we could predict each game certainly very enjoyable at present. Ideal scenario now would be to run away with top spot by about twelve points and make some sort of statement for next season with thee cheats
I only want to hear ' Leeds are falling apart again ' from our own supporters in mocking the opposition fans from here on in
