Good Morning. It's Tuesday 4th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road They've made their bed... The window of opportunity for Daniel Farke to strengthen his squad has passed, and fans are not happy! Thousands took to social media last night to voice their concern and anger at the clubs shortsightedness not to bring in reinforcements ahead of a gruelling season finale. Let's not pretend Farke doesn't have a talented squad. He does. Arguably the strongest in the Championship. But talent alone doesn't guarantee promotion. It doesn't shield players from the inevitable wear and tear of a 46-game season. What happens when injuries bite? What happens when fatigue sets in? Are we seriously expecting this squad to flawlessly navigate cup runs, International Breaks, and the ever-present threat of suspension? How on earth have we not learnt from our mistakes of last season? Two bad results could see the Whites drop to fourth, and there are still 48 points to play for! It's arrogant, short-sighted and a slap in the face to the fans who deserve better than this. We'll have to see if the gamble pays off, but right now, all I hear is the deafening noise of a massive missed opportunity. please log in to view this image Leeds turn down Joseph bid Leeds reportedly turned down a bid exceeding £10 million for striker Mateo Joseph over the weekend, according to Beren Cross of The Athletic. It's understood that Real Betis made the enquiry regarding the Spanish Under-21 international. However, Leeds quickly rebuffed their approach, signaling their intent to retain the young forward. He recently ended a three-and-a-half-month goal drought, finding the net in Leeds' dominant 7-0 victory over Cardiff City, marking his third of the season, adding to his three assists across 1151 minutes of game time. Despite starting the campaign as Farke's preferred choice, Joseph has since seen his playing time diminish, with Joel Piroe emerging as Leeds' primary attacking threat. Given Patrick Bamford's recurring injury concerns, allowing Joseph to leave the club, especially with a promotion push on the line, would have been madness. In truth, sending Joseph out on loan wouldn't have been the worst idea, but not without a stronger option arriving. please log in to view this image
If we go up, it was sensible business not reacting to outside pressures. If we don't go up....? When Piroe breaks his leg on wednesday, the natives may get restless.
Morning all. Some people will never learn. We are owned by an investment bank whose first priority is to show a trading surplus in annual accounts for their shareholders, not to piss 10 or 15m on footie rejects. And if I was a shareholder, I would say the 49ers are doing a fantastic job with my money
i'd have thought as an investor you'd probably want your shares to grow in value and you'd expect the club to invest shrewdly to get the team in the premier league where that would happen overnight as your revenue doubles... rather than have them sit on a relatively meaningless 'trading surplus' in potentially the wrong division. I'd be reserving judgement on how well they'd done until May.
But the pl is a pure gamble, firstly to get there and then to survive in it. No Id far prefer to know my 50p is safe and sound and guarantee a modest return each year as we are
I hope so! https://www.efl.com/news/2025/january/31/how-to-watch-the-efl-this-weekend/ https://www.live-footballontv.com/live-championship-football-on-tv.html https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/artic...-united-is-the-game-on-tv/2025020411283966592
Morning all Mixed emotions on the window closing; we never strengthened an already very strong squad, we never weakened either, it wasn’t that long ago we’d always sell a key player. We never strengthened, we also never wasted money on a journeyman like Armstrong who can’t make a terrible Southampton team. We could have done with a new keeper, the only one I noticed move was the WBA keeper joining Ipswich £2m + £2m add ons. Around us teams have strengthened but have they caught us up or are we still ahead of them
Maybe Sky aren't allowed to show Frank Lampard's face on tv before the 9pm watershed, in case it scares too many children
Exactly and to be honest criticising other peoples signings when that crock continues to be our back up plan. If he has to take to the field again this season, were in trouble
