something is seriously wrong at Ashton Gate. Lame ducks wait till Wells gets injured the **** will hit the fan
I wonder if Tommy Conway is regretting leaving, Boro brought in 2 new strikers this window, with Whittaker starting ahead of him this evening. He’d be a starter for us…..
We need to get promoted if only to come straight back down in order to get parachute payments, the longer we go without them the harder it becomes. The owners want it, but not enough to do what it takes to get it, they are too passive. The only way it’ll ever be achieved is by really going for it. This season were within 2 points of the top 6, and yet all they do is give excuses as to why we won’t push the boat out. These opportunities don’t often come around, but whenever we’re in a position we always chicken out.
It has become a series of excuses every season and if nobody got the message loud and clear it states quite clearly that Bristol City are not open to any success, and if it doesn't happen by osmosis or a miracle forget about your hopes. For someone who has had tremendous success at his day job I fail to understand why Steve Lansdown continues to think success will ever come to Ashton Gate especially when he obviously has fools in charge of his club. Looking back at this transfer window and the business done by all the other clubs in our division, other than us and Leeds, it makes me wonder why I continue to support a team the never seems to want to be promoted to the next level despite our stadium and supporters screaming from the rafters that we should be good enough to have a shot. Two of the clubs that look likely to go up were in the third tier just a couple of seasons ago and so they have more commitment that we ever will based on the annual guff put out by our management. Shameful I reckon.
The exit door at Ashton gate has seen many talented players pass through it towards better things for their career and it makes me wonder if the culture throughout the dressing room reeks of failure and apathy. Any player worth their salary would want to leave a club if they felt for sure that nothing was ever going to be achieved based on the club philosophy and so is it any wonder why we see so many ex-City alumni still plying their trade at good clubs that treat them with respect and dignity and offer them at least a chance of success? Bristol City are a good example of how not to run a football club and so it doesn't take a genius to realize why we have major issues attracting decent managers and players who could get the job done. Steve Lansdown, despite all of his money invested in infrastructure etc, has to shoulder all of the blame because ultimately he controls everything and his constant restrictions that he puts on us for whatever reason will destroy the club and it's incredible fan base who deserve better.
We are a stepping stone for players on their way to bigger and better clubs, and a training ground for ‘up and coming’ young coaches, who are ‘learning their trade’. Just for once we need to grab the bull by the balls and show the world of football that we mean business. ……… but we won’t.
Agree about being a stepping stone for players, unfortunately the young coaches we choose are not of similar quality, as none of them has gone on to bigger and better things , we’ve always been the pinnacle of their careers.
wow shows the difference does it not- Pompey Signed 8 players in this Transfer window so hopefully Pompey will Stay this brilliant Championship League and survive we look a lot Stronger now
We don’t need 8 players, they do. But being this close if we miss out by a couple of points, there will always be the question, what if??
the way my predictions are going..... WHAT IF! ......... we could dip out on Goal Difference! TOP 4 ARE A DIFFERENT league TOP 6? 6 TEAMS COULD BE THERE with GD separating this week! its a messy week of fixtures thanks to SKY decimating the weekend fixtures and spreading them over 6 days!! certainly mucked up my compo............ lol! ............Saturday the 8th's start on Tuesday 4th FEB!!!!!
What a signing this was by WBA sign of intent in the playoff scramble. please log in to view this image
Bristol City's major January transfer business in full Outs: Rob Atkinson - loan to Portsmouth Fally Mayulu - loan to Sturm Graz Kal Naismith - loan to Luton Town Ephraim Yeboah - loan to Dunfermline Taylor Gardner-Hickman - move to Birmingham City made permanent Tommy Backwell - permanent move to Cheltenham Town Omar Taylor-Clarke - permanent move to Dunfermline
Sometimes it's just in the stars how we/any team play.......started with Boom Boom missing out........poor old Bradley Orr getting a bad injury.......and Johnson's unbelievable decision to take Marvin from midfield to RB.
…… or maybe the ‘powers that be’ told them to ‘throw the game’. Obviously not Orr, but stranger things have happened. A friend of mine has been a steward at the County Ground for years. He’s Swindon through and through - and not the sort of person to bullshit. Just after they had beaten Sheffield United in the playoffs, the team were celebrating in the dressing room, when Phil Power (owner) walked in and basically congratulated them for winning but told them if they won in the final they’d all be out of a job. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes and a huge amount of money at stake. **** for the Swindon fans who paid money to see their team get stuffed at Wembley by Preston, but we live in a corrupt world.
