Clearly you don’t understand the principles applied in football contractual negotiations then.

Can’t say I’ve heard of any of our players knocking the door down demanding a salary increase because of what Kelly is being paid. Wonder why? Maybe they and their Agents do understand the principles applied in football contractual negotiations.

You’re quite right. Contractually they would not.

But imagine if your playing week in and week out and your getting paid 50k and he’s getting 150k a week for doing **** all.

Yeah, it's like being a Mod knowing that Trev is also one, even though he doesn't even know where the Mod Tools button is.

I understand them perfectly, in every free transfer there's also the signing on fee, agent fees etc, so there's never a "free" transfer.

Just because he was available on a free doesn't mean we had to go over the top with the wages. He was on £30k a week before we signed him, his salary was way too high.

Times have changed at Juventus then, from Buffon, Chellini, Pirlo, Vidal, Dybala, Dani Alves etc.....to Lloyd Kelly.

Well they're miles off the title and haven't won it for years, so makes sense.

What a ****e transfer window generally, not just for us. Sky Sports won't be happy as people just won't bother watching their transfer deadline day specials any more.

Something needs to drastically change with these crappy financial rules. Hopefully this summer.

They are planning on changing them.. It'll be the same **** though in terms of killing competition.

    It's called squad cost ratio.

Under the proposed new regime, clubs will only be allowed to spend a set percentage of their annual turnover on the wage bill for the first team and its coaching staff, plus the amortised costs of their transfer fees and all agents’ fees.

The major difference, however, between the Premier League and UEFA regulations will be that they will operate a two-tier system, with clubs playing in European competition only able to spend 70 per cent of their turnover, while clubs not competing in Europe able to spend 85 per cent.

Contrary to recent reports, clubs that breach the Premier League’s rules will still be subject to points deductions.

The above is probably why we have not spent any money and have just sold players. This kicks in from 25/26. Note it is proposed. If we did get in Europe our wage bill including staff has to be under 70%.

I am not sure if it is an annual thing or an average over 3 years but I think it’s annually.

What I hadn’t factored in when the new rules came out was that if isn’t just the annual wage bill to be under 70% or 85% of turnover. But it also includes player amortisation.

For example our 22/23 year our income was 250m. Wages 187m and amortisation 87m. So 274m/250m is 110%.

Our turnover since then has probably gone up to say 375m which is 24 levels. So let’s add another 15m say. So 390m.

Even if we had the same wage costs (it will have gone up) that would be 274m/390m and surprisingly that’s 70%.

Of course player sales will reduce the amortisation but the 375 was off the back of champions league football.

I’m not as convinced as others that we can go and splash 200m in summer because the rules have changed.

Exactly it's still percentile, so it's the same ****. It's probably worse because it's no longer a 3 rear rolling, so club's can't even go heavy and then wait! It's constant firm restriction, which can be punished instantly.

Now you could argue the new rules benefit the big six. Well does it. The anchoring rules also kick in. And that’s 4.5 or 5 (I’ve seen both quoted) the lowest teams broadcast revenue so this season would have been around 500m on wages and amortisation.

Man City’s wage bill was 412m last year and amortisation was 165m. Thats 577m so would have been in breach.

    Anchoring is a proposal.

Apparently squad cost ratio has been voted for once already and been approved.

Exactly that. Clubs that make a profit on selling players will benefit.

We are likely not to have the spending power we would have had under the old rules. The 3 year rolling loss would have come out next year.

I have no idea whether the rules are approved or not but they absolutely stink.

Im surprised clubs voted for it if I am honest. It doesn’t help anyone other than clubs with mahoosive revenue streams.

There's nothing they will ever vote in that's going to benefit Newcastle. There is currently no way, but the almost impossible one. This means it's decades.

Masters has been trying to get through the new squad cost ratio **** for a while. They did a dummy vote if you like, and you've guessed it the vote indicated a real vote would approve them.(they even test the water before official votes just in case).

The majority, can simply create rules that hinder the minority, again, and again, and again.

It's the vote itself that needs challenging legally.

@GG what you've got to understand is that there's not many clubs that want to compete with the big 6. These are the minority clubs in the votes.

The big 6 and all other clubs are simply voting to protect order, and their investment. These are the majority clubs in the votes.

The majority clubs, will never under any circumstances, vote for new rules that create a big 7 or 8, because it puts their investment under serious threat. They'll try to find another way.

A big 6 or 7, would make it more difficult to get into Europe for the big 6, and more difficult to stay in the Premier league for everyone else in the majority.

The current rules have got some of the big 6 wrapped up, so they'll work out a system that suits the majority clubs, and just vote them in.

Newcastle Villa and Forest are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The only place reporting 150k a week for Kelly are some random websites, every journalist connected to the club has rubbished it. I dont believe the club would pay a backup CB more than Gordon, Tonali, Isak.
