As close as we've been in 5 years, yet you and others still want Manning gone. Then again, the same crowd wanted the last manager who got us this close gone as well. Weirdly, you all love the one in between who actually got us nowhere near the play-offs. And you claim SL lacks ambition for the club..... you couldn't make it up.
My complaint is the continual mishaps we seem to sign via JL & BT, LM is miles better IMHO than the other little failure and he, as has been quoted is equaly as successful but with no waffle and has not yet left with the fear of bankruptcy with a £38.4m debt.
I see what you're implying here Wiz.... This is a predictable response, but take your pick: it's the head coach or the club management's fault.
No implications just expressing my opinions., on field, with LM , his coaches, staff and players we have a reasonable standard being achieved , BT & JL leadershhip is timid and lacklustre, recruitment is mediocre and has no obvious ambition, the club exists but the future looks dim and inward looking. The only things the club has that shows any ambition or life is the fanbase, the stadium and facilities, our owner is solid and dependable but obviously at 70ish has other thing in his life, the weaknesses are obvious as are the cover ups and mistakes of the past.
Just imagine where we’d be if we hadn’t messed up our summer striker business. Equally we’re 2 points off the playoffs, and we’re gambling on our 35 yr old main striker to stay fit for the remaining fixtures. I think in the past SL would’ve loosened the purse strings a bit, I can’t see it happening now though.
the £38m debt was a pain, but in the wider picture context of how we were generally moving forward and gettinf a rolling system going covid didnt help. it probably wiped the value of any transfers out by around 40% + and of course the ability of teams to actually buy in players at a 40% "discount" was almost non existent we would had to kick them out rather than get £1m or so for them! we are a couple of points from 6th but for that position at the moment at least 10 teams in contention! does this make a weak championship or a strong one? IMHO I reckon it is pretty mediocre. whoever goes up with Leeds or Sheff U is like ly to be BURNLEY ..... or ... maybe ....... SUNDERLAND... relegation is far from settled Plymouth really keen on staying up have sold and spent quite well? any current team from Stoke downwards can be the final 3!
We’re not ready for a stab at even the playoffs imho Under Alan Dicks when we finally got to the ‘big time’ you could feel the real momentum and buzz building for a couple of seasons before we actually achieved promotion Id hate to see us get promoted and get absolutely walloped every week, which we surely would be as serious money won’t be spent on the team If we move on the likes of Wells in the Summer and bring in more consistent scorers and get a better mental mindset then who knows in a couple of seasons I still don’t think the owners want it, and even if they say they do, they don’t want it as much as the fans
Sorry for the lack of City news As mentioned at the start of this live blog, deadline day was always likely to be quiet when it came to Bristol City news but yesterday's club statement has ensured that there is very little to talk about whatsoever. Perhaps an outgoing or two could surprise us all later, but Ashton Gate seems to be closed for incoming business, not that it was ever really open. (Bristol Live)
Sykes signs the extra year on his contract- Ambition it says everything- that is why Bristol City are where they are-assets wise in structure fantastic-however to fill the place week in week out you need quality on the field.
And a successful team at Championship level seriously going for promotion would see gates of 25,000 or more, and if we were to be promoted, we’d fill the ground for every home game, no matter who the opposition were and could probably get well into the 30,000s if we had the capacity
Absolutely i wondered why we bottled it against Hull and it seems we don't wish to have another crack.

' bottled it' ? Is there anyone on this planet who can explain the football logic for taking Marvin Elliott from midfield to RB.
What do you reckon of this two clubs not strengthened us being one the other is top of the table Leeds The Robins are just one of two clubs in the Championship not to add to their squad in the winter window, with the only real business at Ashton Gate seeing a few senior players exit on loan.
