Given how underwhelmed everybody was when we signed Kelly - and what we've seen in his few appearances at the club - I think selling him for around £20m is great commercial business. Even IF he does well in Italy, fair play to him, but I'd still be happy with the money.

 

There's no point in providing with a squad anyway.

 

But he needs one - he injures players, remember?

 

If PSR & FFP were dropped tomorrow, how do you think the saudi's would proceed. Do you think we'd be bidding £70m for the likes of Duran and Mitoma or would we still be frugal to the point of boredom?

It’d be really interesting to see. I still think Howe would tread really carefully. By the same token, I don’t think Howe would be here if PSR didn’t exist.

 

I wouldn't want us to do a City & Chelsea buying mercenaries left, right and centre. Which ironically is exactly what they're doing with their own league.

 

The Saudis would go in like nothing seen before without the rules.Howe would be an obstacle, but they'd just ignore him, and he'd probably be like, ok.

 

And Lascelles might be better than Botman. But he isn't.

Kelly has looked absolutely nowhere near the level of Schar and Burn this season, and I'd prefer to ditch him now rather than give him any more time.

 

He never had enough game time, and at Bournemouth he looked a good player. I remember people saying Anderson wasn't worth 30 million, but he's worth double that now, probably.

 

Especially on £150k per week.
That soon racks up.
We've likely paid him best part of £5m by now.

 

He's been taken on and sold like a stock item. His ability is probably much greater than the Neanderthals realise.

I agree, but the notion he's not good enough is foolish because the boy never had a run of games, and Juventus disagree.

They'll have watched him at Bournemouth. He also played well at home to Chelsea here, and bagged a nice assist in the league (can't recall the opponent, but it was a home game).

Exactly and there's a reason for that, and it's because they aren't very good.

The cbs we have need a massive upgrade, but everyone's got a hard on for fwds.

 

Yeah, if we do another couple of 'Kelly-like' deals, then we'll have enough scope to enhance the first team and finally offload some of the squad players who aren't up to it for the next phase of the club's development. But it's all in small steps, not the huge leap with an open cheque book that we'd all love to see.
