I get being underwhelmed. I felt this would happen. We've been linked with Marcus Edwards, Chuba Akpom and some Turkish wonder kid. We've talked about Jon Rowe. We've even went and signed Enzo Le Fee. The expectations rises so quickly. Danns may come in and do very little, we will see. But I think it's a good and positive signing.
Well look, we signed Isidor. So there's another loan there. And we will sign a teenager or two i believe.
I would echo the suggestion that its going to be hard for ANY player coming in, that isn't a starter, to make an impact. But we were never likely to bring in a new starting striker ahead of Isidor. There just isn't the budget for that and frankly January isn't the time to be splashing out loads of money on a mian striker. Realistically whoever comes in as this additional striker only needs to score a couple of important goals to get us points to have made the impact we needed. Our promotion fight will come down to the 2-2s versus Plymouth, the 0-0s versus Burnley etc. A Danns goal in either of those would have made him worth it alone.
Do you think Clarke would want to come back? Imagine being headhunted away from your current job, increase in wages, saying your goodbyes, party, slice of cake, balloons etc, only to find after a few months you were in fact not even needed, sitting around doing next to nowt. Your employer calls you in saying that they have made a mistake but been in contact with your former employers and being told they are willing to take you back. You would feel a right ****ing nob!
The teenager bit is really important to me. Even more so if we lose Watson. Need to maintain the pipeline.
If anything, can you imagine the reaction on here when the news broke haha, be class. Probably top the Defoe return night. Anyway, really need do some work now. Well maybe an hour before my next update check
If Jacky were to come back, surely he wouldn’t want to go back to Suffolk at the end of the season. I don’t think he will (but believe he could), would we want him to be brought back for good if we went up? Disaster at Ipswich but would it be different if he slid into the league ‘at home’. I honesty think if he’d hit the PL with us it’s a different Jacky. But then, Mundle genuinely does have a higher ceiling and better balance to both feet. One thing is certain, Jacky would have an impact. Mundle is nearly fit but he’s gonna take 4-5 games minimum to get back on full steam. That’s a big chunk of what’s left of our promotion season.
Yep. Really goes back to the idea of 'need'. It was never desperate in my view, and players coming in were always unlikely to be transformative. Never too high nor too low - particularly not in January!
