I'm not sure I'd want Seb back. Read my sig, that's the sort of players I like. Worth noting that I don't really trust loans from other prem sides either. He'll get good info on how our tactics work, amongst various other concerns. May sound slightly paranoid, but football is big business and has always been prone to corruption.

I'd take him back, definitely. Whether on loan or permanent.

I loved Seb, I still remember his crunching tackle on Kenwyne Jones in the derby like it was yesterday.

Back on loan until end of season, see how he does, if good then make it permanent? Sounds good to me.

I'd take him back on loan in a heartbeat. Would hopefully make a useful CB partner with Colo while Saylor is sidelined.

Think Id have a preference of a loan deal for Bassong, than a Perm deal for Ridgewell!

My only worry, is that Daniel Levy, being the smarmy **** he is. Would demand Krul, or Tiote in exchange.

I don't think it's a case of 'happily' throwing Santon in out of position, it's just that to many he seems the best option out of a bunch of bad ones.
Ignoring the fact that Tavernier can't be recalled - Santon has CL experience, international experience, and Serie A experience, whereas Tavernier has about 30 games combined of Conference and League One experience.

Defo take Bassong on loan. Would have him back permanently as well so long as price was right. He was a very good player for us.

The point you wrongly seem to be picking up on is about tav.the point i was making about tav was being for defensive cover as it's getting a bit thin on the ground not throwing him in at CB(which you said not me :)) i'd much rather stick our only fit CB in TBH (Kadar) but for some reason Pardew doesn't rate the lad.
As for CL,top European league and international football experience being a factor I give you Viana,Boumsong,Guivarc'h,Marcelino,Maric to prove it doesn't naturally translate.

We're only really short of cover in the CB area, we have plenty of full back options, so I still see little point in bringing Tavernier back, if it was even possible to do so. It's better that he stays at a lower league club and develops, so that he'll hopefully be good for the future.

For your last point, that's true, there are plenty of international players who aren't that good.

again the tav point is irrelevant as i mentioned it once someone said we couldn't get him back and i acknowledged the point and you keep bringing it up :) and as for cover in defence i'd say we are seriously lacking and have been all season hence raylor at LB and fergie described by pardew as LB cover when the season started.
the only defensive position we have good cover for seems to be RB,plus we're only one more injury from total melt down in defence.Midfield cover i'd say we have plenty but not defence as we're now finding out.

I wouldnt mind him back, but not sure it will happen. He was interviewed today by @nufcfans on twitter

    nufcfans NUFCfans
Seb Bassong tells @nufcfans - "I love Newcastle, I'm supporting them this season. Fans are amazing. Howay The Lads." #NUFC

    nufcfans NUFCfans
When asked about a possible return to #NUFC, Bassong added, "I can't tell you anything but Newcastle has a special place in my heart." #NUFC

Nice to hear. Can't see it happening either to be honest, don't think Pards would go for him. But, by the looks of it, he'll never rule out coming back? We shall see
