I always keep a stash of cash at home.

Enough to get me and my family a flight out of the UK and/or be able to buy food and essentials for a few weeks

Just in case the **** ever hits the fan.

I must admit I've got in a bit of a habit of going to the cashpoint whenever I go to the shops. That way then I've got the choice of card or cash, but I'm old, I certainly wouldn't expect youngsters to be doing that.

I remember one time I had to go to the cashpoint in Gillingham before a game, the reason being the micropub I was going to only took cash, anyway one of the machines was out of order, and it only left one available in the town....the queue for it was ridiculous, first time I've ever had a long wait to get cash out of a machine.

I always have £100 either on me or close to hand. It’s something my father-in-law always did as a “just in case”. I’ve also got a purse in the car with a few coins for car parks, as I’ve been caught out not being able to access the apps before.

remember some years ago seeing something about banks payment IT structure and like the DWP the basis of their system was in IT terms archaic to the extent the number of people who fully understood it wasn't big . The problem was it would cost an absolute fortune to replace with no certainty the new version would work . So what happens is new add ons keep being tested and the released if the test was successful though once the public use it they may fail as the testing cannot replicate all situations.

    Morning.

McDs now interrupting the loud music to play an automated announcement about not tolerating abuse of staff and that the place is hooked up with more CCTV than Guantanamo Bay.

said it before, since the days of shops taking debit cards and signing a slip. We have had a digital currency. Not the conspiracy nuts will tell you Gates etc are trying to force us into a digital currency.

banks are hesitant to dish out large amounts of cash without advanced notice to protect its customers against fraud/being forced into it.
Lots of rogue traders who would fleece and OAP for their life savings to emulsion a front room.

Banks can loan out ten times what they have, creating debt from the guarantees of the money they hold.

That saving your dosh from fraudsters is very convinient.

Fact is is everyone with more than 5k in the bank went to draw it out tomorrow they'd all find out that thier money isn't there<laugh>

Don’t have more than one account exceeding £85k per banking group. Or £170k if a joint account.

then you are protected as best you can with the FSCA
