It's an Italian American thing, it's interesting and if I'd have really spent time on this it could be really good. What I made was decent but nothing special but I can see how it could be really good.
Best NY Italian dish ever is chicken parmigiana. I'm sure there's some crazy version that's super popular up north here after a night out. Stand by.
Had a parmo once somewhere but not been to Boro itself. They use Bechamel. It’s basically a heart attack on a plate. Quite different from Parmigiana which is more of a mild heart murmur.
Just made a nice concoction Baby potatos boiled and sliced up in a pan, added some red onion, mushrooms and sliced pork sausages and half a tin of chopped Tom's, garlic, ginger and chilli flakes. It don't look to appealing here tbh but I assure you all it Was bangin
