Where’s the Dan James praise on this thread? Literally made the first 4 goals. Brilliant player, no song, takes no credit, all effort, such an all Leeds aren’t we player. So underrated by our fanbase. Love the guy.
He gets plenty of praise in the stadium and he has his own song this season for the first time. It's the old classic... "He's here, he's there, he's every-****ing-where Dan James, Dan James". I heard it multiple times yesterday.
At least with your poor form this season Spanish has gone very quiet, I noticed he goes missing a lot on your forum lately. Last week I even noticed him turning on Ipswich posters and arguing
What's the opinion on piroe....he seems to be very devisive with people on here, and yet apparently his 'stats' according to someone on mot forum are... better minutes per goal (140) than Summerville and better minutes per assist (252) than Rutter, who were considered probably the main men in goals and assists by most fans, imo he doesn't do a lot of the hard work so to speak but does some lovely touches and balls that sometimes seem to go unnoticed by many reminds me slightly of big viduka (although probably not as good in reality) big vid was considered a lazy git by many but was a class act all round...in all honesty how many thought he'd put the penalty away yesterday unlike if Bambi was putting the ball down ...I had no doubt it was heading into the netting, does he get a bit of undeserved flak? It's a difficult one, he certainly knows where the goal is but his work rate at times leaves a lot to be desired, he as the look of someone who can't be arsed. His contribution yesterday was immense not just his goals but his involvement in the first 2 goals too. Over the years his style of players were known as luxury players, they'll get you the goals but you have to accept their play may not always be what you want. Personally I'd prefer him to keep his place,regular goal scorers are hard to come by. Not sure what Archer would offer any better, yes he had that one good season with the blunts but as done feck all since.
Think by some distance he’s the best finisher we have, and yes I expected him to stick the penalty away. Like you say, some of his touches, whether wall passes or passing through the lines, are excellent. For me, yesterday he was a 9 out of 10. His attitude, his running, his footwork, was top notch. Think he frustrates because we know he has all the skills, but his lack of pace/sharpness means we don’t get to see it too often. Personally I never had a problem with Viduka. Thought he was top notch .
He will always be a divisive player. He doesn't do the pressing side of the game very well and that is the most visual thing you notice about him. I think you've seen the good and the bad (or the bad and the good) in the last two games. Against Burnley he continually gave the ball away and was very sloppy in possession. He didn't press (which is not unusual) and the game passed him by. Yesterday, the ball stuck to him, he played some great wall passes and a few class round the corner passes. He was arguably man of the match. In a nutshell, when the things he tries come off for him then he looks a really good player at this level. When they don't come off for him then he looks terrible. It's what you get at this level. It's just inconsistency. If he could turn it on every week then he wouldn't be playing for us in the Championship. This inconsistency is the reason we need another striker in ASAP because we need options. I'm really glad Joseph got a goal yesterday but we need at least another striker for those days when Piroe has his head in his arse.
If he did everything, he’d be off to Bayern, City or Madrid and be worth £100m+ He is the best you’ll get at this level for the price a Championship or lower PL team could afford. I’m happy with him and as long as we don’t have 11 players not doing the “other stuff” and as long as he is scoring goals then great I posted on the Southampton board this morning asking what it is that Archer can’t do that the coach wants from him as I don’t see why Archer should replace Piroe. Feedback suggests he is just another Piroe, Southampton fans a bit divided on him but overall very disappointed stating he is a top Championship player but not PL material
