I'm not talking about knocking his confidence. I'm talking about us getting something out of this game. The way about that is not by putting someone, who is used to the soft Serie A at full back, at centre back against one of the most physical strikers in the most physical division in the world who has never played in the Premier League.

Firstly, all the Grant Holt arselickers(Colly Ameobi), he has only started 5 games for Norwich this season, he is out of favour and normally an impact sub.

Simmo has played CB before a few times, he may not be tall but he is quick. Colo would get torn apart by Morison as Colo is **** in the air. Without Saylor and Willo we don't have ability in the air at the back.

Thirdly, whoever suggested Smith, that is a good shout. I've always said he'll end up at CB and I think that wouldn't be bad. He's good in the air, physical and as long as he watches his sliding challenges he could do well.

I think that Jonas' red card the other day was message to Pardew that he doesn't want to sit in his own half and defend anymore ... so I doubt that he'll agree to play LB
I'm pretty sure it will be some permutation of Simmo, Perch, Raylor and Santon which isn't reassuring ...

An impact sub who can score headers though.

You're mental, Colos **** in the air but Smith is good?

is Williamson not fit, if so then it will be him and Perchino won't it? Would not be confident in Simpson at CB. Hopefully he would prove me wrong.

Santon - Simpson - Perch - Taylor for me.

Are Kadar, Dummett and Ferguson available?

I've never seen more than a few minutes of Dummett, but Kadar and Ferguson should be able to make their way onto the bench.

Think he has scored 1 header this season. He isn't amazing in the air, i'd be more worried abour him on the floor.

Colo is genuinely poor in the air, he always has been. He isn't tall and doesn't really have much of a jump on him. And he is quite weak. He is better defending when the ball is on the floor and he is reading the game.

Whereas Smith has always been good in the air. He has played one game up front for us and bullied the opposition in the air. He wins most his headers. I can't quite understand what you think is wrong with that statement tbh!

Would it not be better to stick Simpson at RB if Santon is both footed?

Dummet is a LB. Remi Streete is so highly thought of,surely he will be on the bench as cover in his natural position?

Ahh you're a bottom to top kind of guy, I see. I do my formations from top to bottom so my RB is on the left <ok>.

Peter Beardsley certainly didn't say anything about his ambidexterity, but I've heard the odd mention on here from time to time.

I'd also like to see this. I think this is the best time to give our younger defenders a chance to show what they can do. We've got Swansea, Norwich, Bolton and WBA. Not easy games by any means, but at the same time, they're not Man Utd, City or Chelsea!

Changed my mind, forgot completely about Ferguson. My back four would be Raylor Simpson Santon Ferguson.

    6 and half a dozen

simpson is terrible in the air. but he is more experienced in the premier league .

do we throw someone like santon in centre half , who isnt match fit(cause he has not been playing) and no experience in the premier league.

I would play with simpson and perch

end of the day, doesnt matter with what combo we use/ I can see us losing ......

You have an opportunity to keep the full-backs the same whilst swapping the CB pair, but instead you want to mess up the position of BOTH fullbacks to include Ferguson and a rather unconvincing Simpson at centre back?

Kadar is the natural option but if Pardew sees him every day and if 3 injuries to our centre halves mean he STILL isnt a starter, then there is something very wrong. He must have regressed.

Santon is big but if we get hammered with him playing out of position it could destroy his supposedly fragile confidence.

Raylor Simpson Perch Santon for me. We played something similar in the Championship (Raylor Simpson Khizanishvili Enrique) and got beat, but it really is desperate times (and both goals were Khiza's fault).
