Oh come on leading fish, you need to open up your imagination Oh and when you do, think of Westwood with his shirt on
Possum - I did open my imagination and what I saw, or rather heard, frightened me to death! Have you heard Mr Westwood play the bugle? With or without his shirt, he is so bad he wouldn't even have got into the Portsmouth Sinfonia!
I gather Razzyboy's a bit of a newbie then I bet JW's got Fodder beat in the looks dept though. It's not every day you get your portrait hung in a Soton gallery.
Lord Duckhunter could entertain us by doing a ten dance - he does keep 'harping' on. I'll get my coat!
I do have a red vuvuzela but I have not taken it to Fratton Park as I feel I could not compete with JW's bugle , incidently he played probably the worst he has ever played against Leicester recently, I could not stop laughing!
A RED vuvuzela, not a BLUE one then?! I guess the quality of his playing and tonality depends on how many pints he has downed prior to the game. Let us pray he never parps his bugle in front of her Majesty...
Why do you say that Rich, have you also heard the strong rumour that Her Maj is attending the next home game at Fratton Park, to try out our 'modernised' lavvies ? Let us hope that SB3 isn't sitting in the next cubicle, parping away........
Surely you would allow her majesty to sit on a nice clean throne with at least a door on it, so she wouldn't get a glimpse at westwoods bugle, But then I suppose the poor sod hasn't seen his bugle for quite a while under all that lard
I went to Gunwharf today. Pleased to see you guys have decked it out in red and white lights in preparation.
The Portsmouth 'sinfonia was actually an orchestra put together by avant garde composer Gavin Bryars back in the 70's, I think and he created a group of musicians who purposely performed well known classical music pieces in an extremely poor manner in order to ascertain how different the results would be. I actually quite like some of Bryars' music but this group doesn't seem that interesting. Earlier records like his "Sinking of the Titanic" and "Jesus' blood never failed me yet" actually shipped large quantities of LP's in the 70's when he had some sort of tie in with Brian Eno. Prior to that, he was heavily involved in working with the free improv guitarist Derek Bailey. About 20 years ago he made a record with a string trio and electric guitarist Bill Frisell called "After the requiem" which was a sort of threnody to Jimi Hendrix and I have always been amazed by the originally of this piece and the way that Frisell's guitar blended with the other strings to redefine the string quartet. I've always thought that the choice of Portsmouth with this sinfonia was hugely appropriate. Westwood would make an exceptional choice of soloist and he would n't even need to be sober beforehand.
Actually, some of the Sinfonia were accomplished musicians, but not with the instruments they played. I went and saw them once and they started off by being hugely entertaining and funny, but the novelty wore off very quickly.
