BTW I've put a warning spoiler on the clip, some people may not want to watch that.

Something doesn't add up here. Why the **** didn't the helicopter respond to ATC or attempt to avoid the plane?

There's bound to be speculation and questions but accidents don't just happen and are often a result of cumulative errors.

This doesn't help. Better to wait for the facts, does Trump actually know what coms there were between the control tower and the flights?

President Donald Trump said the crash between a US Army helicopter and a passenger jet near Washington “should have been prevented.”

“Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane. This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, adding: “NOT GOOD!!!”

Just added to live reporting of the tragedy.

"Associated Press reports that a recording of air tower communications at the time of the crash has been captured by LiveATC.net, which the agency described as “a respected source for in-flight recording.”

Tracking the aircraft flight paths published at 11:25
    "
Both the American Airlines flight and the Black Hawk helicopter were transmitting information about their paths and altitude ahead of the crash.

The two aircraft were transmitting different types of signal but both were visible on a tracking website called ADS-B Exchange as they approached each other.

The plane was sending out ADS-B signals, whilst the Black Hawk helicopter used another system called MLAT.

Aircraft such as these have systems onboard to detect nearby flights, including a Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).

Doug Rice, a retired American Airlines pilot, told broadcaster NBC that TCAS isn’t effective below 700ft (213m).

Data from the tracking site shows the American Airlines plane had been on a steady descent approaching Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport from the south. The helicopter was flying from the north, along the Potomac River, also on a descending path.

The last recorded altitude of the aircraft just before the impact was around 200ft."
