Interesting that levy earns even more than the money clubs with unlimited funds. As for levy not taking a dividend its because his shares are worth more than ever. He doesnt need dividends because his equity is sky high
As has been pointed out he has massively increased the value of the club. It's hardly surprising that the majority shareholders want to share some of their profit with him. But it's also true that he has missed out on an even bigger fortune by not delivering trophy success on the pitch. What's more three of the other clubs in the table have all got worse over the period Levy has been in charge so it is hardly surprising that their shareholders have not awarded the Directors so much.
I heard the rumours were that they were lowering the wage bill to make the club more appealing for a sale. Really hope that’s true
I think the more likely explanation is that our highest earner (Kane) wanted to leave, another high earner (Hugo) came to the end of his contract, and the rest were just overpaid ****e so we got rid of them.
You claimed there was no evidence of the club growing as a commercial/entertainment brand I provided independently verified evidence that it has
yet some of the fanbase still say it’s the opposite regarding ENIC’s intentions…the full quote is even more damming Stockholm Syndrome
Everything they do is to increase the value of the club, not to make the club more successful on the pitch but to make it worth more to them when they finally decide to sell it.
And Spurs are on their way to that this season. 29th Jan and no outfield signings when there are 12 players injured.
Even if Spurs were doing well and no injuries, they should be making signings. To not make any when the situation is as bleak as it is, it’s beyond belief.
The best way to increase the value of a football club is to make it successful. There is absolutely no contradiction at all. They have presided over the best run of league finishes in our history while getting to the final of the most prestigious competition in World football, which we had only ever been in once before their arrival. The problem is that they started from a very low base.
The obvious explanation, which you continue to ignore, is that we have nothing left in the budget so can only consider loan signings which usually happen in the last few days of the window, particularly for decent players.
So how do you think that fits in with maximising ENICs investment? The club's value will plummet if we got relegated.
I agree but what are they doing to help on the pitch? Spurs badly need some reinforcements asap. What are they waiting for?
The management haven’t said that. He said they’re looking at options. That would indicate they can afford something. Also let’s say you’re right, the club can’t buy anyone and is 15th in the league, that’s even worse.
Of course they have not announced the exact problem...that would simply make things even harder. It would seem that we were so hard up against the limit that we have been caught out by the prize money loss. There are only two solutions to that...spend money now and be forced to sell one of our better players in June to get back within the limit, or try to negotiate being allowed to breach the covenant as a one off. Neither of those are likely to lead to early decisions to spend.
Our net spend so far this season is appx £110m. Losses due to no CL football last year slightly compensated by a further fall in wage bill + projected prize money for EL football this year equal no more than appx £30m. This leaves us £10m short of the magic £150m number, which means in theory we could sign a £50m player tomorrow on a 6 year contract and accommodate fee and wages without breaking the covenants. Where have I gone wrong?
I don't think anyone outside the club can calculate EBITDA to within an accuracy of better than £20m because of all the uncertainties. We have not even seen last year's accounts yet so predicting the 2024/25 one is not going to be precise. I had about the same estimate as I recall. Thinking further...what is the difference winning and losing tomorrow makes? Getting into the last 16 gives more certainty to the Europa cashflow and no player we sign in the window can play tomorrow in any case. So having got this far, signings on Friday make more sense.
