Think we should have still brought Sorba in it’s a perm deal and it’s doubtful Belloumi or Miller will be back playing before November or December atm we don’t know what loans will still be here next season but Sorba as a perm deal would be able to settle with the team and help give us a more stable foundation for next season. We don’t know if Palmer,Zambrano,Puerta,Gelhardt,Barry,Omur,Simons,Lincoln will be here so bringing Sorba in now would make sense.
I'd hope they'd be back quicker than that, they got inured late October/early November and average recovery time is around 8 months. I wouldn't be shocked if both are back in training for pre season in July
Rodri did his end of September and thinks he'll be back playing this season. Back on the grass for pre season is a realistic target
Just a question but are we all making inaccurate assumptions re Palmer ? Based on what Selles has done with other players of limited impact maybe he will get Palmer to do what he wants , if not then he can go . As for Omur and Mehlem I think Selles and Dublin etc realised like I and many others noted , we were a team of midgets who who who technically were able but would lose to bullies and those who were just more powerful .
That's what I had been thinking. Even more so earlier on when it was clear we needed to add options, given our bench was weak. Even then got to thinking we'd have been better getting him as a permanent rather than Barry on a loan. Thomas is a name I'm aware of, maybe mostly because of him being mentioned so much on here! But the big question is, how good actually is he? I've looked at his career stats and they don't look anything special. Didn't seem to do much at Blackburn on loan last season. Nantes appear to want to keep hold of him, but they are in a relegation battle, so probably not that strong, and his stats there aren't anything special (1 goal, 2 assists in 19).
Think i used Thomas as an example of being a perm instead of laying a large loan fee out for 3.5 months which is what it basically is plus what he would cost for a full season next season if we was to extend the loan which I doubt because if he tears it up here their will be some big offers for him and villa may sell like they did Philogene so I would rather we brought a perm deal in at least he would be our player. we also had players last year on loan who had stats that were not that great we just made them good and they got sold by their clubs for loads.
All the players that have improved since Sellés came in were already hard-working; they were just in **** form or lacking sharpness. Palmer’s always been a lazy luxury player. He was the same at Coventry and Bristol City. Ömür and Mehlem probably suit Sellés more than Palmer. I’ll be surprised if Palmer isn’t gone by the end of next summer.
Omur and Mehlem have good ball skills but not the stature for what I think he wants . I am disappointed that on here his poorer form this season seems to have tarnished how good he was last season , he was everywhere doing mostly other peoples work . He also played right wing this season too often , maybe that made him frustrated and disillusioned ?
I got the feeling that Prutton was about to say something negative on the latest podcast about Sorba, but stopped himself. It would fit with other stuff I've read.
