I didn't get home until gone 10.30 so just catching up with this thread. I try not to respond when you're making these statements about Hume being shyte, 'shenanigans' inside the club, players being drunk etc but ffs ... ... how could anyone tell what an entire stand was feeling? Yes, of course, the crowd wasn't impressed but it's absolutely impossible to know they all thought the players were lazy.
It's hard to imagine Cirkin having such a poor game, incredible that four or five should ... ... for both Jobe and Neil to be so ineffective killed us imo, the rest of the team followed suit.
That's what I was referring to. The majority of the roker end comment was relating to the post about booing. I have no idea why lots booed.
If you were in the Roker End you would only hear those around you ... ... it's simply impossible to know what the vast majority did. Obviously those who kept quiet made less noise than those who booed. Irrespective, no one should've booed that team off after what they've achieved so far ... ... otherwise we may as well change the words to 'Sunderland til we draw at home after going behind'.
People have their own reasons and I am cool with that, of course. Yeah, that's why I was and it seemed a significant about but agree, if I was in the east or west stand, not sure how it sounded from there ?
West stand on the edge of the box 18yds from the North (if that makes sense) stand didnt hear any booing at all.
I just meant the bickering back and forth between Prehab and other posters. It was cut and dry, he booed and admitted it and thought it was fine, they didn't. It was sort of end of argument. Apologies btw my typing is abysmal atm.
Thought it sounded canny significant and from other parts of the ground. Anyway, it's been done to death.
Was loud in U8 of the east stand, mind you some of the comments around me during g the game where bad as well
It’s like we have a bunch of angry 16 year olds supporting us. Over the top with praise when we win, but such anger and vitriol when we don’t.
Yeah i think that’s where Le Bris got it wrong on this occasion. Cirkin I think was probably just Cirkin. The others were changes to the system causing a lack of clarity I think.
As I said yesterday - I honestly didn't hear it but I could have been trying to erase the last 90 minutes from my brain
What do you think the reason for the cirkin sub has been (yesterday and against derby)? Seen a few think he was really poor yesterday, personally didn’t really notice him being especially poor. He’s a good header of the ball and keeps us balanced, not sure why we bring him off when trying to see the lead out especially against a load of crosses. Fitness thing?
Maybe a fitness thing and managing him to ensure he doesn't break down. I don't think he was better or worse than others yday.
I've slept on it to try and give myself a bit of clarity. I was disappointed with the tempo first half, against the low block you need to play faster and off fewer touches to drag players out of their shape. We didn't do that anywhere near often enough and Plymouth seemed comfortable, that played into their hands and allowed them to settle into the game. They got a bit of luck with the goal, it seemed to me like Hardie is trying to square it and it quirms under Patto and in. The response to that was good, we found urgency and quickly scored. Good early ball from Hume and a great finish from Wilson. We kept that up and looked likely to get the second, unsuprisingly when we upped that tempo Plymouth didn't look comfortable. Good finish from Hume, you assume at that point we'll finish them off. The subs were negative. I'm not usually one to moan but they were. It invited them on and when theres only one goal in it its only ever a mistake or something special away from going wrong. We don't deal with the initial freekick (get off your line and absorb the pressure Patto) and then the defending from them recycling the ball is poor, we get sucked in to ball and then the flick lands back post and the lad is all on his own. Again, for me Patto could have shown better anticipation to try and get out at him and close down the shot. Its points thrown away again, but you get what you deserve and they had excellent chances before that. Its an off day performance wise for sure.
The frustration is amplified because, with Sheff U losing and one or both of Leeds and Burnley dropping points, we completely ballsed up at home against by far the worst team in the league after they were humped 5-0 at home before half time just days before. Its like weve been sinking 20 footers all season saving par and sneaking birdies on treacherous greens then when weve got the chance to really put our stamp in amongst the leaders we miss a two footer on the flattest surface. Despite being within touching distance of the top 3 ive still always felt we are the outsiders. Yesterday i was expecting them to put doubt in my mind. They didn't. They confirmed it spectacularly. Its impossible for me to be upset or angry at the club. But ****ing hell its frustrating.
My first home game for a while. Thought Samed slowed the game down way too much and affected our usual play. Not doubting he is a good player, but wrong game to bring him into imo. Should have changed it at half time back to our usual midfield and I think we'd have come away with all three points. It just had an air of inevitably towards the end when we were throwing defenders on. On the booing, fair bit around us in the north stand.
Can we all please remember that not a single one of us thought we were auto contenders. We are. Many still thought Jobe was **** and bizarrely had a contract clause to play. He isn’t and he doesn’t. Owners and Speakman were useless and penny pinching. Hang your heads that mob. Yesterday was a kick in the bollocks but these lads, this manager and those at the top have given us a club, team and season of overwhelming pride. Let’s not forget this.
