Leif made his PL debut against Man City for Leeds in a 1-1 draw Broadhead played in the Europa League and he made his PL debut that same season
I feel the same but I’m not sure we can send him back. Definitely a waste of very large wages. I’m not sure what Broadhead has done to warrant getting dropped. When he has played, I think he offers a goal / assist threat which at present, is higher than Omari’s. Next week should be a very intense game, players have to keep their heads
This is daft. Phillips is miles ahead of Morsy. Delap breaks moves down with too many silly fouls and took a dive when he had a chance for a shot. Hirst should have a few starts to ram the point home. Omari needs a rest. O’Shea is out of his depth. Townsend looks more effective than Davis, who needs to knuckle down. Jack Clarke is rightly nowhere near the XI today. We have the talent in the squad but we need to get the team to click by making some better selections. The two signings will definitely improve us in attack.
Talking of negative crap.....have you watched us the last month or so?? We have waved the white flag from the first minute and yet some on here seem to think that is fine, just because it's against a difficult opposition. Not ****ing Happy!!
Oh and Big Al, just because some show their displeasure because we think, we should have a bit of a go rather than defend with 10 behind the ball, doesn't mean it is negative crap!! It shows more desire than being one of the happy clappers, who are just happy to be in the Prem to make the numbers up!!!!!!!
Whether you think we should play defensively or attacking against teams like Liverpool, a result away to the best team in the division isn’t what’s going to relegate us. The big match is against Southampton at home. Arguably one of the few games where most football fans in general would predict an Ipswich win. We’ve got to put Southampton away - on track for being the worst Premier League side on record. I would revert to a back four and three out and out attacking players behind a centre forward on Saturday. We need to be on the front foot and we need to capitalise on teams’ poor form around us. I also don’t think it’s a straight fight between us and Wolves. Leicester still in with a chance and an away trip to Spurs is nowhere near as daunting as it might’ve been at the start of the season; given their form and injury record. Leicester will possibly get something from that game.
If we beat Southampton, we’re likely out of the bottom three. We’re not challenging for Europe this year so let’s get behind the lads to survive so we can build and not take a big step backward.
I think we did have a go against Man City and 1st 20 minutes was an even game but once we conceded, floodgates opened and we couldn’t close them. Similar again with Brighton, up to 1st goal, we were well in the game and IMO therein lies the problem. When we concede the 1st goal, whether intentionally or not, heads seem to drop and a “here we go again” attitude forms. I would love for us to finish 17th this season as I feel we would be better equipped to tackle the division next year. Our biggest weakness this season has been 1 of our biggest strengths over the last 2 and that is the central midfield partnership. Overrun in that area way too often but no strengthening in this window as yet (for me, more important than 2 more players who can play behind the striker)
Personally I think we will lose to Southampton, they have looked decent lately and been a tad unlucky. Watching us lately, I think we have looked poor, very poor actually. Even against Brighton we looked poor and made them look better than they currently are, I mean Everton have just beat them away. Something needs to change and quickly, just not sure KM sees it. Don't start Johnson, Leif, Morsy, Phillips and Hutchinson....they ain't performing and need to be dropped!!
And not forgetting Luongo who hasn't let us down. After he came on against Man City we looked far more solid and he showed some tenacity at least
I still think we need another forward. None of those new signings playing behind the striker have particularly showed any decent form this season. Broadhead albeit in a smaller number of games has looked our most effective player plus Chaplin in a handful of appearances. Hutchinson tenacity and robustness is something to applaud but hes not been at the level needed this season. He shows alot of naivety and loses the ball far too often, I think you could accept this if it were because he was trying to play risky passes but its not. Same goes for Delap. We've had to rely on both far too much this and is why you don't see any other clubs having 2 21 years old in their attack. But agree about midfield we look lightweight in there, I think that's down to a few reasons, partly down to our formation that we are often outnumbered in that area, I think we miss both Burgess and Woolfenden on the ball when they're not playing, they know patterns of play and in particular Woolfenden helps break the press neither Greaves or O'Shea do this. When Morsy isn't on his top game as he was in some games earlier on in the season we lose the midfield no one else is getting in there and dictating play...Cajuste has been good but is a different type of player. So we need more numbers in there.
Since Broadheads return to the team he has been superb...he actually looks better than he did in League 1 and the Champ. I understand McKenna making some changes but there have been players who've been superb for us and then suddenly dropped. Feels like the team isn't picked on form.
The biggest problem that nobody seems to want to talk about is......we need a Prem quality goalkeeper, neither Walton nor Muric are good enough!!
Sometimes having lesser players makes a better team. He's not the long term answer but hasn't shown he's not good enough in the appearances he's made this season and has certainly shown more tenacity than Phillips and he covers the LB spot better than anyone albeit he might not be the most mobile
There's several fringe players at Barça that would do a great job at Town, Eric Garcia is available for about 12 to 15 million. Pablo Torre is an attacking midfielder that needs to go out on loan, he is quality and has experience. Ansu Fati is available but is shot to bits, needs a massive confidence boost. There's several more 18 yr olds that need to go out on loan that are on the cusp of the Barça first team. There's great players out there for less than what we paid for Hutchinson etc, gotta have a decent scouting network tho!!
