Just a last thing from me tonight, Dan Neil is never an 8. Playing the worst team in the league and he offered zero. You play Neil or Samed, not both. End of debate for me.
Has to be Neil, Jobe and ELF in the midfield like. No more pissing about with him on the left. You don’t sign a player of his quality to shoehorn him in, he plays in his best position
Think for the first time this season we took an opponent lightly and used it as a chance to do something different. Not called for. We need to win every game.
Andy’s Player Ratings: Sunderland 2-2 Plymouth - Bottom side take a point at the SOL Sunderland chucked away a much-needed three points in a poor performance at home against Plymouth. Here’s how Andy rated the Lads… Anthony Patterson: 6/10 Got away with a poor clearance early on, after the Plymouth player fired his shot right at him. Unlucky to see the first goal squirm underneath him and no chance with the second. Trai Hume: 8/10 Provided an assist after picking out Isidor with a cross for the first goal, then scored the second himself after a great touch and finish from Roberts’ cross. Chris Mepham: 6/10 Some poor passing today, a lot of balls into the channel that went nowhere near the runner. Defended fine but not his best game. Luke O’Nien: 6/10 Some lovely balls played over the top to Le Fee in the first half but never looked comfortable defending. Dennis Cirkin: 6/10 Not much to do defensively but had a few half chances to score, one of which was potentially going in if it hadn’t hit O’Nien’s back. Dan Neil (C): 6/10 Played in a more advanced role today but other than a good shot from a knock down in the first half didn’t really shine. Salis Abdul Samed: 6/10 Sat in front of the back four and kept the ball ticking to either side, nothing flash but more minutes in the legs for him. Jobe Bellingham: 6/10 Got around the pitch but no cutting edge and struggled to impact the game. Patrick Roberts: 6/10 Not an awful lot from him from open play today with Plymouth sitting so deep but got an assist for Hume’s goal after picking out the player from a free kick. Enzo Le Fee: 6/10 Bright in the first half, with some dangerous set pieces, almost scoring from a corner after a Plymouth player just about deflected it wide. Made some good runs early but there was no-one on the end of his crosses and tired after the break. Wilson Isidor: 6/10 With the visitors sitting in so much for most of the game, we just couldn’t get Isidor into the game. Thankfully he buried his one chance, with a great first time volley from Hume’s cross. Substitutes Eliezer Mayenda: 5/10 Some really poor decision making late on, completely mishit a good opportunity to win it and then decided to send in a looped header when he was well placed and unmarked. Dan Ballard: 6/10 Came on and made a couple of clearances, also just missed a cross into the Plymouth box. Chris Rigg: 6/10 Tried to make an impact after replacing Roberts and played a nice ball through the lines to Hume, unfortunately Mayenda ended up spurning his chance. Leo Hjelde: 5/10 Came on late on and didn’t close down the cross that led to the equaliser. Man of the Match: Trai Hume Some very subdued performances from the team today but our standout player throughout was Hume. Got a goal and an assist but also got up and down the line all afternoon, almost provided a winner too but for Mayenda not making the most of the pass.
I agree think he'd be much better suited to the middle however we don't have any fit left wingers. If Mundle or Watson aren't close we need to be looking at one in this window. I'm fuming after this result like but should have seen it coming after the Sheffield score. Anyway we somehow got a point and can only hope to Christ we are better against Boro!
Really disappointing that mind. I think that set up was wrong. We lost too many 50/50’s. We gave loose balls away throughout. Our centre backs struggled against hoofs. Can’t think of much to celebrate, two goals scored and didn’t lose against a really really poor team who’ve got 4 from 6 off a good one.
I’ll be gobsmacked if 5 dropped points against them isn’t significant come end of season. I’m gonna make no comment tonight cos I am ****ing fuming that we’ve shipped yet another last minute goal. We didn’t look right from the off, the balance, again, was lifting. We need to play the player in their best positions. ****ing basics.
Going to bow out here. Flat as **** after that and had a few too many so out I say will be probably emotion led irrational ****e, feel we took them lightly given the line up, fair play to them mind they came up with a plan and can feel aggrieved to not be going home with all 3 points, big week ahead to make some additions where we can then full steam ahead, haway the lads
Bottom team take 4 points from us. Well it's a funny old game. When we were relegated bottom and Wolves walked the league, we took 4 points from them. We were the only team they failed to register a win over and also the only team they didn't score against. Long gone history, but all I can think of to try and cheer up a bit.
Only positive from this weekend is that we will have got as many (or more) points than at least two of our three rivals.
RLB ****ed up with that section clearly. Thought it was a gimmy to get some minutes into Samed. Paid the price.
Pretty dire that. They were ****e but if anything we were worse. Didn't understand dropping Rigg to play Neil there instead before the game and I understand it less now. That's where we need Le Fee dictating the game not having to try and do it from the left wing. ****e game management from Regis, you can't just keep hoying CBs on it doesn't work like that, just invites pressure. We'll need to do a lot better than that if we're to go up.
I don’t think that all and think it’s a very naive take to think RLB thought it was a gimmy I think, as he said in his press conference, he wanted to control the game. Which we did, problem is we lost our creativity and that’s what was wrong samed allowed neil and jobe to play high, would’ve been better with Rigg in
