Not good Learning and Work Institute says 71% of Londoners and 65% of adults in Scotland will have degree by 2035, compared with 29% in East Yorkshire Heather Stewart Economics editor Economic growth in the UK risks being held back by a “skills chasm” between regions, as London and the south-east suck in highly qualified workers, according to a report by the Learning and Work Institute. The gap between high- and low-skilled areas of the UK is already wider than in many comparable countries and is forecast to widen, the thinktank says. If trends continue, 71% of Londoners and 65% of adults in Scotland will have a degree by 2035, compared with 29% in Hull and East Yorkshire, and 39% in Norfolk, it says. https://www.theguardian.com/educati...mid-huge-uk-regional-divide-in-qualifications
Its just total wealth in equality again Scotland uni is free Compare a skilled job in the uk to another western country Uk wages are pathetically low and tution fees are like everything else in the uk Expensive as **** versus other western countries **** backwards place if you ask me
Hmm, not sure about this, they seem to be saying degree=high skills, no degree=low skills, which is dubious. Also why compare with London when everyone knows the country is London-centric and probably always will be. Surely it would be more useful to compare Hull and E Yorks compare with the S West or the Midlands for example. Also what sort of degrees are we talking about and will there be jobs for those that have them? And what about trade qualifications, apprenticeships, etc. Do these count alongside degrees? The whole purpose of further education needs looking into imo. If half of the 71% of London graduates are out and about doing Deliveroo or what have you and half of the 71% of Hull folk without degrees are plumbing, electric'ing, working in the offshore industries, etc I know where I'd rather be! Sorry, an unresearched response to a pretty poor article imo.
Article on the empty shops in Hull centre , I’ve spoken to a good number of friends and aquaintances whose wives of the older range will not go into town during the day for fear of being robbed etc . I’ve tried hard to convince them it’s not an issue but if you stand near Macca’s on Jameson St the appearance of those hanging round is not the best , there is a perception rightly or wrongly about them . If you watch the tv and the robbers etc are hoodies up all in black and that’s what you see in the centre then the connection is there . Personally me and my wife have no worries about it inc Saturday nights out but the look doesn’t help .
Town is a safe place, it's just that its offer is different, old people used the department stores, cafe culture is all that remains for them, they should know by now not everyone in a black hoodie is intent on harming them, younger people still flock to Primark and St Stephens and the middle classes spend in Beverley and York. If you really think town is sh*t you haven't been to Grimsby.
i still think hoodies and tracksuits should be banned outside of sporting centres its so ****ing scruffy
I think they should because I don’t trust how long they’ve been worn since the last wash !! Wouldn’t touch a woman who wears them all the time - dodgy !! LOL

Looks very good, I just hope it ends up better than Wilberforce House did after its expensive refurb. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.

Bloody stagecoach have increased the price of a bus ride into town to £3 the bastards. They really are taking the piss, East Yorks doing the long journeys for the reduced price compared to their regular price.
