I would hope it's Schar and Botman but I think EH is being cautious with Botman so it may not be him starting As for Murphy, we don't have any options
Burn has gained a reputation in ability that massively outweighs the reality. He's all over the shop in many games. He'd make a great option from the bench, but we really need two cbs more so than a rw imo. It annoys me how cb is just kinda brushed over.. It's the most important position on the pitch.. Equal to the striker
When Derby went down with 11 points, I'm pretty sure they had more points than 6 at this stage, Southampton are on course to be the worst Premier league team ever. We had a bad result a week ago, but that was against a very good Bournemouth team who played the game of their season.....this Soton team are BAD, anything less than a win is a bad result for us. They cheated to get a man advantage at SJP and still lost.
The majority of this season was a very different looking Southampton to the way they play now. It's a game Newcastle need to win, but I'm eering caution based on what I've seen from Southampton the last 2 games.
Why is Armstrong the epitome of a player who will cause Burn problems? Burn is having a great season, and Armstrong is bad in the Premier league, like really really bad. Armstrong has played 3 seasons in the Prem and scored 2 goals in each of the 3 seasons.
The way they play now? What exactly are you seeing in the last 2 league games that Southampton played? They lost both of them and conceded 3 goals in each game. They couldn't even beat Man U FFS. And the game before that they lost 0-5 at home to Brentford. If you wanted to eer towards caution, you should have done that last week, Bournemouth was obviously gonna be tough the way they were playing. Southampton have taken 2 points from the last 33 available and have won game all season....and that was 3 months ago, and needed a late winner to get them a 1-0 against a dogshit Everton side. They're miles off Premier League standard.
It ain't working then, they were 0-3 down after 40 minutes in their last game. It's very difficult to say this new manager is working at Southampton, he's played 5 league matches and lost them all.
They didn't win, but anyone watching them could see a huge improvement and a different style of play. That's why I'm cautious because I was impressed.
The 3-2 vs Forest flattered Soton, they got the second goal in injured time and the match was over after Forest hammered them in the first half. Man U were utterly abysmal against Soton....yet they still managed to get a 3-1 win. Being plucky and trying to have some pride is fine, but the quality clearly isn't there, when you're new manager has played 5 and lost them all you know it isn't turnaround time. Sure they may win....but in the same way a lower league may put us out the cup, it would be a huge shock. We really should crush this lot tbh.
Don't wanna think of you giving yourself a facial, but I don't really see that line up happening. Usual fullbacks.
