Aye I agree he’s better as the 10 but I don’t see us playing him there with only 2 to choose from Neil, Jobe and ELF. Harsh on both Jobe and Neil to drop one of them and ELF is too good not to play. He has been playing off the left a bit for Ajax this season though with Brobbey and Weghorst being the 9s so wouldn’t be surprised if he came in and played that side.
The combo of size and pace is just so suited to the modern game. He’s got a lot about him, the assist for Wilson the other week was beautiful, he’s then scored since. He is genuinely a bit of a bonus wild card this season.
This is why I care about the fee, let's say Ajax want rid because they're eyeing a new player in that position, so we're getting him cheap, say £5m. The burden on the club is significantly reduced whereby we can likely shift the player easily should we not get promoted, if we pay £10m we're stuck between being forced to make it work or taking a significant loss. Worst thing we could do is pay big money for the player and he reverts to the 5 goal a season version we saw at the beginning of his Boro spell because no fvcker will buy him.
I think if we can get him for 8 or less we’d see most of that back in a worst case scenario. Over that, we gambling. If we go up it becomes irrelevant of course.
It’s crazy really, he could be a flop, but score one goal that turns a draw into a win that sends us up and has banked us 200million. The margins with where we are sat are truly wild.
Oh I agree with that, I just think the people in charge now have earned our trust when it comes to transfers.
Everton might be taking Dewsbury Hall. I really do like him as a player and would make Everton better no doubt. I hate saying young talent like him wasting time on a bigger clubs bench. Criminal waste really.
He's a fantastic player. I actually thought he was going to break into that Chelsea team, especially with Maresca being the one to bring him in. He will be a huge player for Everton. It's exactly the right kind of place for him.
Even if we don’t go up spending £5m to have a player of Akpoms quality from the off next season is worth it imo. Yes, he’s not 21 so we likely won’t make money but we don’t need to profit on every single player we buy as long as the business makes sense then it doesn’t matter if you take a loss on a player. That’s what selling other players for inflated fees covers
He’s 26 now feels like he’s only been around a few years! But as I said with them apparently being after Neil, if this is the market they’re shopping in they aren’t going anywhere fast. They also apparently want Fellows from WBA. These aren’t players who are going to take them away from battling relegation every season
The first time he came on as a sub you could tell that he just has it. I cant put my finger on exactly what but the confidence in the two chances that he did have just said this lad is going to be a worldy.. Top lad Elizer.
There will already be big clubs looking, he’s got everything to be very successful. Got to be worth double Cannon already for potential.
