    Burnley v Leeds United
    Monday 27th January@20:00 | Turf Moor

Top of the table Leeds travel to Burnley on Monday evening, hoping to inflict defeat on the Clarets for the first time this season (at Turf Moor).

With five points separating the top four, victory would not only guarantee top spot, but solidify their top dog status. However, they face formidable opposition, expertly managed by Scott Parker, whose defensive prowess (stats wise) is among the best in the Country. They are unbeaten in 15 games, and have only conceded nine league goals all season.

Leeds have received positive news regarding defender Pascal Struijk, whose hamstring scan revealed no tendon damage, paving the way for a return to team training next week and freeing up Ethan Ampadu to return to midfield. Junior Firpo and Ilea Gruev are edging closer to full fitness after completing 30 minutes (each) in the 2-0 victory over Norwich City midweek.

Patrick Bamford is still undergoing treatment for a troublesome hamstring injury, and is not due back for a couple of weeks. Max Wober was an unused substitute against the Canaries; but as long as Sam Byram is fit, he moves down to third in the pecking order.

Burnley will be without a number of key players, with Jordan Beyer, Aaron Ramsey, Enock Agyei, Manuel Benson, and Nathan Redmond all ruled out for the fixture. This setback leaves Parker with a depleted squad as they prepare to host what is set to be a highly anticipated and fiercely contested match.

A point would be good. A win would be a statement.

After the Sheffield defeat tonight, we can afford to lose and still be top as long as we don’t get hammered.

Before tonight I felt we had to win, now a draw comes into play, a point would be good

A win would be a statement, we must play for all 3 points

A win would give us 62 points meaning we need what, another 30-33 points for an auto. It starts to look much nearer at 2 points a game

Be interesting if they park the bus at home or go for it a bit more. Hope it’s the latter as it will be a much better game and probably gives us a better chance to score.

As said, a point is a decent result. But a win would be lovely.. and give us a 4 point cushion.

Be nice if you could go and batter them for us lads.

Consensus in Sunderland is that Leeds win league, easily best side we’ve seen.

We think Burnley are a bit **** in reality and the Wilder factor will cost Sheff United.

We will be delighted to be second to you lads, just go and **** Burnley please.

If you also fancy rolling over next month that be smashing.

Burnley are a typical Parker team, they grind out results, reliant on their strikers being efficient on the chances they create, they had one chance at ours and scored from it, and that's because our player slipped with the ball, gifting them the goal.
Sheff Utd have been very lucky this season from what I've seen, up until last night that is, which is a worry, if you can't be good be lucky. Wilder really ****ed it up last night, starting Brereton and Cannon with the former playing very little football this season and being out of form when he has, out of the 4 , they're the ones I'd like to see crash first.
I'm still pissed at Meslier costing us 2 points at yours, great away performance from us only for him to throw it away at the end. You may know he did the same at Hull too, the twat

Aye, we appreciated the gift of course.

That said I thought a draw was about right we were quality until 1-1 then you were quality until the last 10 mins.

With a top keeper you’d be 6-8 clear for sure. That said, we’d be up your arse if we hadn’t had our entire left side wiped out over 3 games long term.

**** Parker and Wilder 2 of us get it done.

Even if I look at it not from a point of self interest, I fancy you Monday. We missed 2 penalties and they were dire bar first 15. Sheff United been trash twice v us as well again, missed one at 0-0.

You move the ball quick and Burnley creak, you’ll be all over that.

I'm hoping Farke goes for it from the off, some of our away displays this season have been woeful tactically, especially first 20 minutes of a game, passing sideways and backwards, all about keeping possession which is annoying with the pace we have with our 2 wingers.

Aye I mean Gnoto and Ram should give them absolute nightmares if you go for it.

You have to try and play around Egan-Riley that lad is absolutely superb. Without him they’d concede 3 times as many. Get him out of position and you beat them.

Aye some of ours were having fits about his antics. For me, he does that for us and he’s a legend, no issue with it.

Was fuming at the time like.

He’s a cracking keeper and ER is best CB in league for me.

Not match fit Enzo cooked them down the left a few times tough and you have that crazy pace, if we win today, as we should cos Plymouth are garbage, then they really need to try an win.

That’s gonna play right into your hands.

I'm being bold and confident as well as Positive. We are going to make a a statement Monda night not only will we win, we will rip open their so called "Thou shall not pass" Backline. WE are the best team in this League and we are going to show it ! This is a business end game and we owe them one after their smash and grab at ER. Just watched that game again last night and We honestly ripped them another shyte hole in that game and yes, no 2 games are the same but the quality is. I'm very bullish it's showtime.

Ram and Gnonto are our impact subs atm, James has pace to burn and Solomon is on fire atm , great position to be in having those 4.

Aye those aren’t bad subs are they <laugh>

We need a couple back we sill have both LW out and both we’re having massive impacts in games, we are all excited to see them combine with Le Fee, who instantly looks ridiculously above this level.

Once we through today a lot of ours will be more nervous for your game. For me, a Burnley loss is way more valuable than a draw, cos I absolutely believe we get more points than them over remaining games.

There’s always a late riser in this league as well of course, but when you look this season none of them look all that capable so it likely 1 from 3 from us Burnley and Sheff United.

We all like to think we banging the best looking birds but we’ve played them both twice and realistically we should have 10 points, arguably 12 from the 4 games.

7 still a good return but we could easily have won both away.

I was having a convo with Saf about Le Fee, thought he was a bit of a gamble, because of his record over the last 2 seasons but he is a class player no doubt, if you can keep him fit then he definitely will make a difference..
